    Katy Perry’s new album Smile is her latest effort to come back in the pop scene. I must say this is her most cohesive album that she had released so far in her entire career. With 80’s disco and melodically nostalgic elements in “Cry About It Later”, “Champagne Problems” and “Tucked”, a club euphoric throwback sound of “Teary Eyes”, powerhouse pure pop perfection with “Never Really Over”Katy Perry’s new album Smile is her latest effort to come back in the pop scene. I must say this is her most cohesive album that she had released so far in her entire career. With 80’s disco and melodically nostalgic elements in “Cry About It Later”, “Champagne Problems” and “Tucked”, a club euphoric throwback sound of “Teary Eyes”, powerhouse pure pop perfection with “Never Really Over” and trap-hiphop infused track that is “Not The End Of The World”, Katy undeniably delivered different elements in music genres that most of the critics called out her for not experimenting and staying on her comfort zone. Production wise, it’s a solid record, given the fact that the instrumentations, synths and sonics are not repetitive. Lyrically, Katy has consistently delivered coherent topics such as hope, resilience, love and happiness which are the basic foundations for the entire album. If you have observed, there are 4 parts that are sub-divided each having 3 songs in it that tell a story in the album, which she decently offered thus making the album well coordinated. In conclusion, I think Katy Perry released one of the most solid pop record in a while. Something that you would give another shot after the initial listen.     Her best album, there are no skips and album is literally gorgeous! Only Love, Not The End Of The World, Tucked, Cry About It Later are the one of the best songs on the album.

    This album is one of the best that 2020 has brought us, each single is a bop, and that speaks really well of the quality of the album. I don't know what the "professional critics" have in mind. If they have a problem with Katheryn Hudson they don't have to denote it in the album rating; the comparisons they make with other artists are pathetic and ridiculous.     I actually really liked Smile. It feels like she's finally found her sound which is a mixture of soft rock, pop, and of course dance. While this feels like another Teenage Dream, Katy succeeds in making it sound new and modern. We can hear the big productions of Witness, the empowering tones of Roar and Firework, and as mentioned before the soft rock of One of the Boys. Overall, SmileI actually really liked Smile. It feels like she's finally found her sound which is a mixture of soft rock, pop, and of course dance. While this feels like another Teenage Dream, Katy succeeds in making it sound new and modern. We can hear the big productions of Witness, the empowering tones of Roar and Firework, and as mentioned before the soft rock of One of the Boys.     It is an incredible album full of fresh and genuine sound. Without the need for collaborations or big announcements, she pleases her fans and the general public with this new vision as an artist. It brings electropop and Europop sounds with sweet sounds and classic Katy Perry melodies. Thanks to "Smile" for making us smile in the middle of a pandemic and pregnancy.

Katy es de esas artistas que se reinventan de pies a cabeza en cada uno de sus álbumes y nos da excelentes piezas de arte. Aunque su salida de los charts fue en verdad algo doloroso para ella, le hizo exigirse mucho más de lo que solía hacerlo y sacar a flote todo suLuego de escuchar en repetidas ocaciones el álbum "Smile", puedo ver con suma claridad a la estupenda artista que escogí. Katy es de esas artistas que se reinventan de pies a cabeza en cada uno de sus álbumes y nos da excelentes piezas de arte. Aunque su salida de los charts fue en verdad algo doloroso para ella, le hizo exigirse mucho más de lo que solía hacerlo y sacar a flote todo su potencial como una verdadera artista. Este álbum es una obra de arte en todos los sentidos, la letra, la producción, el esfuerzo, la dedicación, todo. Es increíble que absolutamente todas las canciones son tan perfectas y que ninguna parezca algún relleno. Independientemente de todo el odio que sigue recibiendo y que muchos fans no la apoyan me atrevo a decir que es el mejor álbum de su carrera y del 2020. Excelente trabajo, Katheryn. No sólo por mantenerse fiel a si misma como siempre lo ha hecho, sino por la intención de este álbum, el traernos una sonrisa al rostro, alegría, esperanza y amor. Es de aplaudirse que una mujer embarazada y en plena pandemia, que ha sufrido tanto y que sin contar con el apoyo de muchos, nos da lo mejor que ha podido hacer, su álbum "Smile".… Expand

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
