    It was my favorite album for some time, 11/12 songs are legendary and I listen to them everyday, I don't care about WMAW that much but its good, and I hope High On Your Supply gets released on spotify someday

    Despite the rough critics, I personally think that this is Katy´s best album so far, not just because of the sonority, but also because of its mature and personal lyrics. Maybe the issue with this whole era was its lack of promotion...

    I can’t believe how low we sank as a society and let this masterpiece quite literally flop. I believe Metacritic’s rating is completely unfair and maybe even biased? The album consists of 12 cohesive tracks that takes you through a journey from sadness to inner satisfaction, resilience, and happiness. Katy wrote this after going through the toughest time of her life - the Witness era, andI can’t believe how low we sank as a society and let this masterpiece quite literally flop. I believe Metacritic’s rating is completely unfair and maybe even biased? The album consists of 12 cohesive tracks that takes you through a journey from sadness to inner satisfaction, resilience, and happiness. Katy wrote this after going through the toughest time of her life - the Witness era, and although its a sparkling gem in her discography it failed to reach the success her previous albums achieved. This destroyed Katy. And it didn’t help that users on Twitter and other social media apps completely and unrightfully INVALIDATED her emotions.
    Katy wrote this album about her journey back to happiness and her old joyful self and you might think the days of disregarding her feelings are over - they’re not. And the “failure” of this album shows.
    It’s time for society to give Katy the respect she deserves.
    This album is just as good as Teenage Dream is but people didn’t recognize the fact because she doesn’t have candy on her boobs.

    Definitivamente um dos melhores albuns já lançados, notas de criticos nunca valeram nada, smile é um album sobre trazer esperança em um momento complicado, ele se baseia em 5 princípios, aceitação do erro, terapia, recuperação, redencao, amor próprio.
    Se vc estiver passando por um momento difícil esse album pode te ajudar.

It really sucks that the roll out took forever and half the album was released as singles before the album was released. Nonetheless, Never Really Over is still a great track, perhaps the albums best. The album is filled with the same motivational and empowering lyrics you would expect from Katy but its still good and the production is good as well. Her vocal performance in Daisies and Resilient is commendable. The club anthem , Teary Eyes was also another highlight for me and i think its a great addition to her catalog. The gospel inspired Only Love is also another solid tune on the album which showcases more depth and emotion. What Makes a woman is also a great song with solid lyrics and production. All in all i think the disappointment i have from this album is more to do with the roll out rather than the actual album itself.… Expand

It's a really great album with an amazing message, reminding us that we shoudn't lose hope, even when we are lost in the dark! 'Never Really Over' was an infectious slice of electro-pop with a killer chorus. The singles that followed though, were unmemorable and hollow. Going in different sonic directions and nothing really sticking out. Along with this, there seemed to be little actual depth or theme, with everything feeling slightly confused. When the album dropped, it felt like a non event, an artist releasing an album with a wimper. The content? Well the good thing is 'Cry About It Later' is a euphoric throwback to the sonics of the 80's, along with 'Champagne Showers'. The rest of the album feels deflated, a 'I'm sorry for Witness and this is how I healed' vibe that doesn't really go anywhere. No song pushes the envelope where pop music is concerned, which begs the question. If the artist feels half invested and keen to try and stay in a sonic familiar lane, whats the point?… Expand

    ‘Smile’ is quite reminiscent of Perry’s old works, especially ‘Teenage Dream’. It has catchy and cheerful bops. The clown theme doesn’t really fit the record and there are many tracks that just sound like rushed fillers (looking at you ‘Resilient’!)

Never Really Over abre bien todo el concepto del álbum y Smile te lo profundiza mejor, contando en ambos su vídeo, siento que cada canción (o cada dos), podrían contar una mini historia. Se nota que Katy tomó este álbum como una oportunidad de seguir con sus fans, al inicio, en NRO, cuando habla sobre que pasaron 2 años (su vídeo fue lanzado en 2019), se refiere a la historia que sigue después de Witness. Simplemente, los fans rompieron con Katy, sin embargo, ella no lo supera y quiere volver con ellos. Smile, el álbum que trata de atrapar a los que la dejaron, de sonreír a pesar de tener lágrimas, que aún hay esperanzas, etc.
    Se siente la inspiración de los álbumes anteriores, trata de rescatar lo mejor de ella y lo que ven de ella. CAIL es una canción pegajosa, te da las fuerzas ya que es triste y al mismo tiempo alegre. Mientras, Teary Eyes, tiene una lírica en la que te juzgas a ti mismo y luego sientes la canción muy bailable y alegre. HIH o Tucked son esas canciones tranquilas de amor, mientras Only Love trata sobre las otras formas de amor (amistad, familiar, conyugal, etc) Daisies y CP son dedicadas a su hija y esposo, sinceramente este álbum es muy personal y al mismo tiempo, un regalo para sus fans.    … Expand

    It's good to see Perry cured mentally and that she is much happier than the time when she released "Witness". Personally I enjoyed the album, but i'm not giving highest mark, because Perry gave nothing new. Highlights for me are: "Teary Eyes", "Not the End of the World", "Only Love" and "Harleys In Hawaii".

    Very well produced , nice vocals , amazing cover art designs but not an improvement from witness . I personally loved witness i know some people didn't . Witness proved Katy can do so much better and more but this album minus some very good songs feels extermely generic and made to please audience . So happy for her and her new family but she can do so much better .

Tracks: What Makes a Woman, Only Love, Cry About It Later are showing her growth. As she said before, she doesn't care about charts anymore. She only cares about making music and continuing her legacy. Also as she said before she loves doing music and she won't quit making bops. Overall Smile is her best work, most mature work, most Katy work. Really showed the real side of Katy with 12 bops. And there are two extra tracks, one of them is an unreleased song called "Energy" and the other one is a Target-exclusive track "High On Your Supply". Honestly if she added those songs to album, the album would have been 11/10. She is not a "one hit wonder", she is a "wonder".… Expand

    I disagree with the rating that the critics gave to this album, because I feel like, this it's not so bad as they say. He's a bit overrated by his fans, but I don't consider him an 'musical abomination' either.
    It's a very 'Katy Perry-style' album, and I'd give it a 63 rating because it's not that bad. I consider it fun and a bit good

    I really had high hopes for this album - it looks visually so fun, but unfortunately the tracks just... weren't. I was really hoping Katy would deliver something fresh and new for her, but I didn't find that here. I've found with Katy albums that she's got a couple album tracks that are beautiful gems but Smile fell short in that department for me as well. Just overall disappointed, butI really had high hopes for this album - it looks visually so fun, but unfortunately the tracks just... weren't. I was really hoping Katy would deliver something fresh and new for her, but I didn't find that here. I've found with Katy albums that she's got a couple album tracks that are beautiful gems but Smile fell short in that department for me as well. Though most of the album sounds quite generic and can be forgettable, they all make for a vibrant and moving listening experience. Perry's vocals also contribute to the wonderfulness of the LP. Overall, I have to say that "Smile" is one of Katy's bestAt first, I wasn't really impressed with this album. A few listens later and Katy Perry's 6th studio album "Smile" has made me, well, smile! Cry about it later - Beautiful production and powerful lyric. (Lead Single potential) 3. Teary eyes - powerful electro pop middtempo with super relatable lyrics (single potential) 4. Daises - cute. Goes really well with the album. Shouldn’t have been the lead. (Promo potential) 5. Resilient - boring. A skip. Relatable lyrics but boring and predictable production. The build up in the PC / Climax leads to nothing. (There were moments I hated Katy’s voice) 6. Not the end of the world - Epic. A perfect combo between classic Katy (unconditionally) with what’s popular now on the radios. An amazing song. (Single potential) 7. Smile - a toothbrush comercial for target. Horrible and a total skip. Ruined the vibe. 8. Champagne problems - cute lyric but hated the repetition bc it was unnecessary and boring. It lacks a hook in the beat of the chorus.     I had hope because I loved "Never Really Over." But to me that the only "great" song on here. Katy Perry seems to always play it safe and this album is no different. Other pop start this year really brought unique concepts or cohesive albums and she just isn't ahead of the curve, but a follower. There's some interesting production, but that's really the only positive.

    En verdad es un álbum muy fresco divertido, tiene canciones muy buenas... Cada una de ellas transmite un mensaje de paz, amor, armonía y de como recuperar la sonrisa después de perderla. Excelentes sonidos y las letras hermosas.
    Katy se ha convertido en una de las artistas pop actuales que tiene una conexión muy fuerte con sus fans

Vocals are on point, lyrics are great and inspiring, melodies are amazing. This album is aI wonder if the critics listened to the same album as me, because SMILE doesn't deserve all these negative critic reviews and ratings at all.     The title was right, I smiled listening to this new project, I also cried of joy. I'm so happy for Katy, now she's in peace with herself and she's doing what she likes, no matter what people are saying. What she says in "Only Love" is beautiful and so true : "Let me leave this world with the hate behind me, and take the love instead."

    Seriously, give this album a chance, don't read what critics are saying, SMILE doesn't deserve to be underrated like that. This is one of Katy's best albums so far, and one of the best albums this year for sure.    … Expand

    Katy Perry mixes strong lyrics with good Pop music. Smile could look like a patch since many of the songs had already been released, but they manage to give a good continuity within the album. It's not your best album, but it's a good album.

    Smile is awesome, the album is perfect and ALL the tracks are good! Champagne Problems, Not The End Of The World and Cry About It Later are the best tracks! Katy really did a great job doing this album and EVERYTHING she releases is good!

    So the thing about Smile is that it's not a bad album by any means, hence why I don't really understand the poor reviews it's been receiving. In my opinion, it is a solid collection of fun pop songs that are bound to make you sing along and hum the melodies throughout the day. Katy has obviously learned a few lessons from the disastrous 'Witness' and she didn't mix woke politics with musicSo the thing about Smile is that it's not a bad album by any means, hence why I don't really understand the poor reviews it's been receiving. In my opinion, it is a solid collection of fun pop songs that are bound to make you sing along and hum the melodies throughout the day. Katy has obviously learned a few lessons from the disastrous 'Witness' and she didn't mix woke politics with music this time around; the producers and songwriters she collaborated with on Smile are also a step up from those on Witness since the entire album sounds very cohesive and well-produced. Some of my favorite moments on the album came in the form of "Teary Eyes," "Cry About It Later," and "Never Really Over" -- all of which are quite reminiscent of the Teenage Dream era, and a reminder why Katy is still a force to be reckoned with in the pop world. Besides the familiar Katy Perry sound, you'll also see/hear Katy exploring some new territories, most notably on "Harleys in Hawaii" which has become somewhat of a fan favorite due to how underrated it is. However, for the majority of the album -- Katy seems to stick to what works for her and I don't really see a problem with that. The only bone to pick I have with the album is how messy and all over the place the promotional cycle had been with Katy releasing too many singles before the album came out, so the element of surprise was greatly reduced for me as I was already familiar with like 35% of the album. Also, some of the singles were just not good single choices, e.g. "Daisies" and "Smile" are ok album tracks, but they're most certainly not strong single material.… Expand

    Katy Perry paints herself as an underdog, someone who was cast out of pop heaven. Isn’t she the 8th best-selling female artist of all time? And hasn’t she broke and/or set so many records? The reason no one cares about Katy Perry anymore is because she gave up on her own career. Had she promoted “Smile” better, this could’ve been her Mariah Carey-esque moment. She needs a reality check.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
