Because those negative comments are from the same people that wanted Katy Perry to experiment with her sound, and when she did that with ‘Witness’ she got the same negativity. Go listen to the full album with a clear mind, relax and listen to what Katy has to say. Her Lyrics are very deep and may reflect on your personal life. It’s a very hopeful album, and I think this something we all can relate on during these challenging times. I appreciate Katy for going back to her pop/trap roots and give us a ‘Dark Horse’ 2.0 with ‘Not The End Of The World’. This is something I wanted from Katy music wise for a very long time. If u loved ‘Roulette’ from ‘Witness’ u definitely want to check out ‘Cry About It Later’ and ‘Teary Eyes’. Again I feel with this album Katy created not only pop perfection but every song has it’s own story. Not alot of chart topping songs these days can relate to that. So with all of this said, the last thing I want to say is that Katy Perry is back, and once again left her Fingerprints in pop music history!… Expand

It's pure intimacy but also extremily relatable, this album soffer attacks from "critics" for clickbait but deserves to be one of the most sucecesful of this year.

    Um álbum extremamente necessário na carreira da katy com músicas extremamente verdadeiras e sonoramente perfeitas. A ordem em que as músicas foram colocadas diz muito sobre quem katy se tornou e pelo que passou pra encontrar seu sorriso novamente.

    El mejor álbum. Una mescola de todos sus álbumes anteriores. Desde la primera canción hasta la última puedes sentir la perfecta combinación de pop con varios generes musicales

Smile, uno de los álbumes más esperadoa del año, aunque los singles que se lanzaron no fueron los adecuados para comenzar la era, sin duda Perry logró engañarnos, aunque wl único problema de Smile reside en su duración, el viaje en el que te envuelve es asombroso, una dosis de pop puro, que logra atraparte, todo el álbum es lo que estábamos esperando este año. Never Really Over no pudo ser más perfecta para el intro de este álbum, pasando por un dance pop perfecto con Teary Eyes y la que parece ser la favorita del álbum "Cry Abaut A Later, y un sin fin de música que nos demuestra el proceso de sanación perry tuvo que recorrer para reencontrarse. Asi pues, dejando el lado las críticas maliciosas de los descarados "Críticos Profesionales"(como se hacen llamar), Katy Perry ha evolucionado y nos demuestra nuevamente que ella es el Pop. Y el que independientemente tenga éxito o no, ha creado el mejor album del 2020. A los críticos puedo recomendarles que sean profesionales y analicen cada una de las canciones y sus mensajes así como sus ritmos, porque yo no me creo sus críticas disfrazadas de misoginia y odio por Katy Perry.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    While Perry finds the occasional moment of quality here (Smile and Tucked both feel like the best possible music we could get from Katy Perry in 2020), Smile is an album searching for an identity—and when it fails, it falls back on lazy writing.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
