    Selena Gomez proves once again that her "main pop girl" status is deserved and not only can she sing, write, and produce but Gomez is able to have more success even 10+ years into her career. Despite not being as powerful as her previous album, "Revival", Gomez adds that this album is her most personal work to date and I couldn't agree more. Prior to writing this review, I gave Revival andSelena Gomez proves once again that her "main pop girl" status is deserved and not only can she sing, write, and produce but Gomez is able to have more success even 10+ years into her career. Despite not being as powerful as her previous album, "Revival", Gomez adds that this album is her most personal work to date and I couldn't agree more. Prior to writing this review, I gave Revival and Rare a re-listen and I have come to a general consensus. Rare (Deluxe) has 0 songs I would skip, each piece of art is somewhat of a masterpiece in a way. "Lose You To Love Me" the lead single became Gomez's first ever number one song on the billboard hot 100, and was deservedly so! This song opens up on a past toxic relationship, one where she was emotionally, physically, and verbally abused. This song is serious & touching, but is able to also show aspects of her cheeky side with cunning lyrics such as "Sang off key in my chorus, cus' it wasn't yours" Or honest lyrics like "Rose color glasses all distorted" LYTLM has amassed nearly one billion streams on Spotify and is definitely the best song on this album. An underrated bop on this album is titled "Souvenir" and with lyrics like "Swimming in your eyes, in your eyes In your eyes, Egyptian blue Something I've never had without you" we catch a glimpse of how Selena felt within her life. Other songs like "Ring", "Fun", and "She" come off more silly rather than sophisticated, but this entire album compared to Revival is a lot more fun and less adult. I don't believe she sounds like how she did in her Disney days with the Scene, but compared to Revival she takes the back seat rather than driving further into adult hood. Despite being more dance and bubble gum pop, compared to revival's electro/r&b flair I do still believe this album is the best of 2020! I recommended to all who love Pop, and who understand the struggles of being used, or loving someone too much. As well as being in a place where you are not okay, and although you haven't admitted it to yourself you have the backbone you need to receive support and love, in which you absolutely deserve!… Expand

Rare is definitely a cohesive body of work, but I felt slightly bored to the end of the album. The first half of the album was skipless, rare, ring lytlm, vulnerable are my favorites,

    Best tracks: ***Crowded Room, Ring, Let Me Get Me, Kinda Crazy, & Rare. After a seemingly endless four years, we (Selena’s dedicated fans/Selenators) finally got what we were hoping for. The songs are catchy, lyrical-gold tracks with a very old-timey feel (Ring, for example, transports me back to the 1920’s). We want to see this album shine.

Em seguida fomos apresentados a Look at Her Now, onde vemos o auge de sua auto estima em uma faixa muito alegre e chiclete, diferente da anterior, melancólica, mas tbm reflexiva.
    Com o álbum completo em mãos podemos ver mais dos dois lados já mostrados,    Selena iniciou a era Rare contando como havia superado uma fase muito difícil e como isso a levou ao amor próprio em Lose You To Love. Em seguida fomos apresentados a Look at Her Now, onde vemos o auge de sua auto estima em uma faixa muito alegre e chiclete, diferente da anterior, melancólica, mas tbm reflexiva.
    Com o álbum completo em mãos podemos ver mais dos dois lados já mostrados, por exemplo, sua auto estima na faixa título, Rare.
    Em Dance Again, Ring e Let Me Get Me (que traz sonoridade semelhante a antiga faixa Body Heat de seu álbum antecessor) temos ritmos mais animados e dançantes, sem deixar de lado letras inspiradoras, ousadas e fortes, enquanto em Vunerable, Crowded Room e Cut You Off temos o lado mais melancólico. Rare é muito coeso, suas faixas se conversam de modo muito claro, tanto nas letras quanto nas melodias.
    People You Know é provavelmente minha favorita do álbum, mesmo havendo melhores composições nele, seus vocais marcantes no final da faixa me lembram do timbre de Tove Lo, o que me faz desejar por uma parceria entre ambas, enquanto Fun é a faixa que menos me chama a atenção, provavelmente pela sua sonoridade mais descontraída que não atende ao resto do álbum, e curiosamente foi a última música a ser adicionada ao álbum, mas que possui uma guitarra bem marcante que traz uma vibe meio verão, praiana.
    As letras são muito maduras, queria destacar Cut You Off e Lose You To Love que são quase relatos de como Selena superou alguns relacionamentos tóxicos em sua vida.
    Rare termina com Selena se mostrando, ao mesmo tempo, esperançosa e realista em seu feat com Kid Cudi na faixa A Sweeter Place.
    Esperar 4 anos por esse álbum valeu a pena, eu não consigo sentir nada além de orgulho pela pessoa e artista incrível que Selena Gomez se tornou e está se tornando.    … Expand

The tracks makes you feel special about yourself and tell you that in order to be happy you should go through pain, her features Kid Cudi and 6lack get her sound out of comfort zone and experiment her abilities in a popish rnb. This album is such an experience and “rare” as Selena get new freshly music and melodies, 70-ish pop album.

    It's GOOD. Honestly, look at her now, a prereleased song, is one of the weaker songs. I was worried it would be the opposite. A strong project with great features. Dance again!! Crowded room!! VULNERABLE!!!!! I'm so glad I get to listen to this.

Songs like Vulnerable, People You Know, A Sweeter Place and more have different elements of not only powerful lyrics but authenticity.     While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
