incredible work of art from top to bottom. miley yet again achieved to reinvent herself in a fresh, modern & old school way. the 70/80’s rock sound is something nobody else in mainstream music is doing right now and it is exactly what was needed in the music industry. excellent job from all the people involved and of course, miley herself.

The way in which he talks about love and heartbreak is impressive, in addition to the sincerity in many of his lyrics, 'Never Be Me' can be an example. In addition to the collaborations that contribute a lot to each part of the album, then we can say that: we can possibly find ourselves in Cyrus's best work of hers.

Fearless, electrifying, sincere, maybe we have Miley Cyrus here in her purest form. Stating what she always defended, in 'Plastic Hearts' she gives her ultimatum as not only a pop star, she surpasses that niche, as she belongs to all genres. She is doing what none of her peers in the industry are doing.

This time, rock taking the lead in influence of Plastic Hearts, Cyrus manages to combine her already known genres such as pop & country with rock, which creates a perfect blend of all the past eras we’ve seen to come out of Cyrus. Her honest and unapologetic attitude is very clear and prominent in all 12 tracks and gives a huge insight into what Cyrus’ life had been like over the past 2 years. Cyrus pays homage and acknowledges some of the most iconic rock & roll legends through collaborations with Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. On top of that she was able to keep the whole body of work up to date while at the same time very nostalgic which her other collaboration with Dua Lipa who also took a path into the 80s this year makes very pleasing. Stand out tracks such as Angels Like You, previous single Midnight Sky and opening track WTF Do I Know are a perfect showcase of Cyrus’ versatility and vocal performance. Cyrus worked with Grammy nominated producer Andrew Watt who was apart of the majority of the album, Grammy winning producer Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt along with other co-producers. Songwriters include industry staples such as Ryan Tedder or Louis Bell. Plastic Hearts is overall a very cohesive, story telling, genre bending album which is arguably her best body of work to date. Overall score given would be 9/10. Expand

Cyrus has a history of covering rock songs, as young as 16 when she released her first non-Hannah Montana affiliated record ‘Breakout’. Her covers tend to gain a lot of traction thanks in part to her unique gritty vocals - especially for someone found in the pop genre. Therefore it shouldn’t be a surprise that she take her next record ‘Plastic Hearts’ in an edgier direction.

Her covers tend to gain a lot of traction thanks in part to her unique gritty vocals - especially for someone found in the pop genre. Therefore it shouldn’t be a surprise that she take her next record ‘Plastic Hearts’ in an edgier direction.
Utilising a number of live covers to craft a specific Glamorous Pop-Rock sound, Cyrus is at her best when she has more influence in her sound, as opposed to the record label bosses who would have preferred she take a poppier angle.
Enlisting the guidance of some influential elders such as Joan Jett (who Miley had been compared to favourably post-Glastonbury headlining slot) and Billy Idol on stand-out track ‘Night Crawling’. Miley is still a pop star at the end of the day - that being written with only an abundance of praise for the underrated and often overlooked (*Cough* Grammys) rebel. She is most at home on 80’s-influenced beats such as ‘Midnight Sky’ which has been given the stamp of approval (and remix treatment) by RockNRoll Hall of Fame inductee Stevie Nicks herself.
A fast and great start to a new era for the former child star. A plastic production maybe; but one full of heart and soul, and I’ll say it - rock and roll.

Songs like “Angels like you” and “Never be me” sparks the conversations about how she isn’t always the best and most reliable person in a relationship, and many may look down on this, but this shows her honesty and the facts that she accepts who she is. The last of the highlights is “Never Be Me,” an achingly honest and beautifully conceived mall-pop ballad. Hannah Montana sang "Rockstar" at the local fair in Crowley Corners before telling the world her real identity and now Miley Cyrus has proven to the world that she is THE rockstar. More of a glamorous rock rather than rock and roll, Miley has given us the best and most cohesive musical piece she has ever put out. After six albums that touched a vast catalogue of musical genres from pop rock to pure pop, electro-R&B and country, we all thought we had seen every side of Miley; until she took part in this beautiful third millennium disco revival with "Midnight Sky". She started hinting a rock side of her last year with the live performances of "She Is Coming" but I never expected it to be this good. Her voice is built for rock, this is just made for her even though she can do everything she wants to. She didn't lie when she stated: "I'm unusual, not so typical, way too smart to be waiting around, tai chi practicing, snowboard champion, I could fix the flat on your car, I night even be a rock star". Ya'll remember that? A MOMENT TO REMEMBER. Anyway, after 7 albums it feels like Miley has found her identity and musical conformity which I hope causes the making of a couple more rock-inspired records. This kind of music however might be childish and fake rock for the purists and those who think that The Beatles and KISS had any kind of impact but **** them this is our moment, the moment for another revival of pop rock, disco music and punk. I just want to live in the 2000s again when everybody was singing "she was a punk and she did ballet, what more can I say?" Just a glorious moment in music history. Continuing, the collaborators on "Plastic Hearts" have been selected perfectly and with a lot of love because, do you remember when Shawn Mendes was scheduled to appear on "Bad Karma" instead of Joan Jett??? Yeah trash. You can tell that this record has been put out with a lot of love and delicacy. It is melodic, catchy and just... amazingly beautiful and, as it plays, it keeps getting better and better despite Miley having limited songwriting skills. It just feels GOOD you know? I want to jump and scream and smile to this. Also the vocals on "Plastic Hearts" have been put perfectly and the tracks have been very well produced. With an aggressive intro and a vulnerable outro, Miley Cyrus has come here to prove how versatile she is as she keeps getting bigger and better mixing her passion for rock and roll with the pop rock roots from when she all of a sudden became the biggest teen idol of all time for us the Zs. Love you forever Miley at any form, thank you for existing!!!!!! Expand

Plastic Hearts, a rock album that matches the voice of Cyrus, with a strong production and structured lyrics, becomes one of her best works.

I've never been a big fan of Miley but 'Plastic Hearts' finally came and things changed, guess I must stan her now. This album is great overall, production is really good and Miley's voice fits perfectly with the retro pop/rock genre, I'm glad she made a project like this. Every song is good and unique. I was so amazed when the first time I listened to this album. Before this album, I'm not even Miley's fan, but I love this type of pop!

In my humble opinion, this is Miley's best sound to date. Her natural raspy voice really suits this album. The first half of the album really snapped, wise word play. My favorite tracks are; Night Crawling, WTF Do I Know, Plastic Hearts, Midnight Sky, Gimme What I Want and especially her masterpiece Angels Like You, one of the best album this year for real

    PLASTIC HEARTS REVIEW

    1. WTF Do I Know - I really love this "throwback" rock song, idk why. A really strong opener to the album. The chours is on fire and the verses with that bass is amazing. The lyrics are so badass, i love this song so much, one of my faves. 10/10 2. Plastic Hearts - the titletrack of the album. I love the lyrics and her vocals on this track. It's not as strong as

    10/10

    2. Plastic Hearts - the titletrack of the album. I love the lyrics and her vocals on this track. It's not as strong as some of the other songs on the album, but its a grower.
    7/10

    3. Angels Like You - This song is so sad and one of my favorite ballads on the album. The melodies in the song is amazing and catchy. It brings you to tears.
    9/10

    4. Prisoner (with Dua Lipa) - THIS SONG IS AMAZING. The lyrics vocals and production is very good. Smart of Miley to include Dua and make it a bit of a 80's sounding rock song. It fits the albums really well. It did kinda age but a strong single chose.
    9.5/10

    5. Gimme What I Want - a really dark sounding song that i love. Her vocals and the melody on the chours is amazing and catchy.
    8/10

    6. Night Crawling (with Billy Joel) - fits the dark aesthetic with the last song. I love this 80's rock song. Their vocals on this track are AMAZING. One of my faves and deserves all the praise it gets.
    10/10

    7. Midnight Sky - I really liked this heavily influenced 80's banger when it came out. But it sadly aged for me...
    6/10

    8. High - My favorite ballad together with Angels like you, its amazing. underrated
    10/10

    9. Hate Me - The lyrics are dark and sad but the song is not really something i am eager and excited to listen to. The song is okay but weak.
    5/10

    10. Bad Karma (with Joan Jett) - I didnt really like this song at my first listen, but i really love it now. It grew on me
    8.5/10

    11. Never Be Me - A strong ballad, but for some reason its not as strong as Angels like you or High. It feels like I've heard this song before, in a bad way. Its good but in my opinon not the best.
    6/10

    12. Golden G String - a skip... i always forget about this song tbh...
    2/10

    ---bonus---

    13. Edge of Midnight - not bad, just not a mashup i wouldn't listen to as much. I def prefer the normal version of Midnight Sky.
    4/10

    14. Heart of Glass - Love this cover, not my fave tho.
    6.5/10

    15. Zombie - THIS COVER IS SO GOOD! IT REALLY FITS HER

Wow! Miley is really that b*tch! It´s incredible how we never know what to expect from Miley but she can always impress us, in a totally positive way. This album brings the best of the 90´s femme rock, embellished with Cyrus´ impressive raw vocals.
    Top Track: Midnight Sky

Who else has a voice like Miley Cyrus? Nobody. And that’s what’s so welcoming about her foray into pop rock; she finds a home here. I can agree that she could’ve gone deeper into the rock genre, showing us her true grit. But instead she gives us a middle-finger-up Hannah Montana, a few years added. It works.

'Plastic Hearts' is Miley's best work to date. She once again proves her versatility and talent after finding what I think is her sound. This pop/rock album is fullfilled with quality songs that are sorrounded by a impeccable production and explosive vocals by the singer. She's a rockstar.

Despite the unnecessary concessions to conventionality, Plastic Hearts still manages to reveal even more layers to Cyrus’ ever-expanding musical palette, proving she can take on whatever genre she desires and give it her own unique sense of flair.

If only Plastic Hearts followed Midnight Sky’s lead, we’d have an album of disco-rock that felt true to Cyrus’ strengths.

Passionate and self-aware, Plastic Hearts is easily the finest incarnation of Cyrus' music yet.
