This kaleidoscopic vista is the album’s ultimate strength, arguing that all these sonic formations can be united within one band. Just as we, as individuals, include multitudes, so do Model/Actriz. In a world that is uniquely broken, they persist unwaveringly.

The slow crawl of ‘Acid Rain’ and closer ‘Baton’ offer tender moments of relief on an electrifying second record on which Model/Actriz utilise chaos to amplify moments of vulnerability.

Like Dogsbody, Pirouette is a wildly feral album. This time, though, we're inclined to sway with the beat rather than thrash against it.

On Pirouette Model/Actriz continue their tightrope walk over chaos and introspection, desire and vulnerability, with camp aplomb. Another vital record from a trailblazing band.

The band expertly place seemingly clashing sounds side by side, but with their lyrical deft and technical prowess are able to make it work effortlessly. Similarly, they consistently bring club-pop energy while employing conventional rock instrumentation, all the while having a level of lyrical honesty and wit others rarely achieve.

Pirouette is reliably exciting. .... Model/Actriz still don’t really sound like anything else.

Rather than raucous and eruptive, the music is now icy, clipped, and clean, a step away from Einstürzende Neubauten and toward Crystal Castles and Circus-era Britney. It still has teeth, but they are oh-so-white.
