The rest of the album can't match that evocative pang on [best track No I Don't]--something like hot coals against cyborg flesh--and is generally more direct.

The synths are crisp and warm, and the beats are motivational in that '80's coming-of-age soundtrack way. [No. 85, p.57]

An altogether more polished affair [than debut, Good Evening]. [April 2012, p.106]

One Second of Love feels like Nite Jewel attempting something like a proof of arrival, but mostly it's simply a high definition look at all of the strengths and weaknesses we already knew she had.

She may have gone a little too far toward conventional pop, and not all of it rings true.

She tries out warped folk ("Unearthly Delights") and dubstep ("No I Don't"), a versatility that hasn't quite settled into a cogent direction.

While One Second of Love contains this personal touch of sound, it isn't used to potential.

Nita's Jewel "One Second of Love" is an album as uneven as its title track. There is potential, but still something is not right. Vocals doNita's Jewel "One Second of Love" is an album as uneven as its title track. There is potential, but still something is not right. Vocals do not always fit into tight electronic backing which prevails, pushing the instrumental sections on the back burner. Fortunately, the album has its good points, which are more subdued compositions such as "Sister", or minimalist "Unearthly Delights". Full Review »
