The evolution of Linkin Park is not for everybody but there's no denying that they know how to write a good song, whatever the genre. "One More Light" is a polished gem of a pop album - approach this album with an open mind and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

These guys don't care about the number of albums they gonna sold. They don't release 3 albums a year. They're not mean. They love Change, and that's what Linkin Park is all about.

In fact, some songs are really great. For example, "One more light" is one of the strongest LP songs to me in a long time, right alongside very underrated "The messenger" and "Powerless". Most other songs are at best 5/10. "Good Goodbye" is grime and rap with Mike and is pretty decent. Enough has been said about "Heavy". The talk about genres is getting old. The album is decent at best with some standout songs for me in "One more light" and "Sharp Edges". Expand

Most people are expecting something when they hear that a new LP album is coming out.
I have no expectations for the new albums and i think its a good thing. Because I'm always happy about new music from LP.
Most people are disappointed because they want the old Linkin Park. But if you, like that Linkin Park is changing over Time, and really listen to the Songs it's a good record.

First things first, One More Light is an EPIC album by the ultimate genre-bending band, Linkin Park.
This band is not a run-of-the-mill "rock band", on the contrary, Linkin Park's expertise and talent spans over multiple genres. Its perhaps surprising that their first foray into "pop" is by far the best pop music out there. But then, we have come to expect this from the versatile giants

One More Light is a very meaningful and emotional album, showing us that overload of drums and guitars are not necessary to create an amazing album and to convey the deep feelings within each song. (Though, the phenomenally breathtaking vocals of frontmen Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda surely help.)
So, they have once again taken a blank canvas and have created an album from scratch, miles apart from its predecessors. It also serves as a timely reminder that these behemoths of world music are very much on top of their game.
My verdict : 10/10 (it's the highest I can give)

While this album does not take the big risks that "A Thousand Suns" did back in 2010, it provides an overall better listening experience than their previous release of "The Hunting Party"

"One More Light" fades away from the usual heavy musical and lyrical notes for a softer, more emotional feel in what may easily be the band's best lyrical compositions yet.

That said, if you're on the side of the fandom that feels Hybrid Theory and Meteora are what the band should have "stuck with" and not allow the band to evolve as musicians, I would recommend leaving this album on the shelf.

As is their tradition, Linkin Park has treated this album as a blank canvas, unmarked and uninfluenced by their previous albums. However, almost all melodies in this album is catchy and goes well with the lyrics. Speaking of lyrics, the unreleased songs had the best lyrics the band has ever put out in their career while Good Goodbye and Heavy feature some of their weakest in their career.

I don't understand everyone's shock when they told us going in that this was what the album would be like. And to everyone saying there are no guitars on this record, do you have ears? They may not be as in your face as A Line in The Sand, but they are definitely there and definitely real. I love the subtle but strong lead guitar on OML, especially the bridge which matches Chester's tone perfectly. As LP said themselves, the music was built to "support" the vocals which is exactly what happens here. I hope that people continue to give this album a chance, because if you can manage to get past style change you will surely see the beauty in this music. Keep up the great work guys!! Those who appreciate great music know Linkin Park strive to produce it.

Honestly I don't understand all the hate for this album. Granted, this is the first Linkin Park album I listened to so I went into it with no expectations. They've always written very melodic, catchy songs, but they were always obscured by a rough exterior. With One More Light, they're letting their strong songwriting skills truly shine, and just having fun making a pop record because they can. I can see how this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but as a pop album, this is one of the stronger efforts I've heard in a while.

Standout tracks: Nobody Can Save Me, Battle Symphony, Sorry for Now

I was very skeptical when this album came out, having heard the pop singles and not even liking Battle Symphony but it turns out that's the only song I don't like on the record. Pop or not, this is good music in my opinion. It offers a lot more soul and better lyrics than the stuff you might see in the top 40 (plus a few tunes are still rock at their core). This album isn't as bad as everyone says. Sure, it's not like Linkin Park's other records, but it doesn't need to be. It may not be the best Linkin Park album, but it is a pretty heckin' good pop album. If you aren't a fan, LP already has a huge catalog, so I hope this doesn't muddy your day.

Linkin Park go pop and personal on 7th studio album, the second self produced. Higlight are the super emotional title track and the super fun Halfway Right, They proved again that they can do everything.

Its sad that negative commentaries can make someone prejudice against this album. It's not bad!
There are some interesting lyrics and melodies, but of course if you've stuck in early 2000 (im not blaming anyone but those who rate 0's) you might not like this "pop-trash".
Personally i loved hybrid theory and meteora when i was teenager. Rebellious, high paced, aggressive, edgy. So perfect

This is a pretty good album. Not as good as their old albums, but all this hate is nonsense. The album is not horrible. Linkin Park is not a genre of music. RIP Chester

It's a good album at the end for a rock band trying the pop world. People can't expect that they stay the same after years on this industry. If they don't explore new sounds y'all are going to talk sh*t anyways.

People treat this album like a complete trainwreck. I think that's a little unfair. It has nice production, decent vocals, and ok lyrics. The only thing I hated was the fact they got Selena Gomez copy #249 Kiiara to sing on a song!! But still, solid project. 7/10

If you just listen to this album without comparing it to Hybrid Theory or Meteora, it's an amazing album. Not everything has to remain the same. With this album included, if you play all the Linkin Park albums in shuffle, you'll get such a wide variety of music from very soft to very loud and everything in between and each song is amazing.

Most of the reviews bashing this album are just complaints that it's not like the earlier albums. That's good because 'One More Light' is not supposed to live up to those. It's supposed to be an emotional album and it does an amazing job at being one. I'm not going to name it but I'm just currently listening to one of the highest rated emotional albums this year as I write this and I can tell you it doesn't hold a candle to 'One More Light'.

And for people calling them a sellout, I'd suggest watching the "Linkin Park reacts to Teens React to Linkin Park". Besides "Heavy", none of the other songs sound like any other popular songs. People just label them a sellout just because they got a female singer for one song and it just annoys me to no end that people are so quick to judge and dismiss good music just like that without thinking. "Heavy" isn't my favorite track on this album either but stop judging the entire album with such prejudice.

Give this album a go, I guarantee you'll love it.

We need to accept it as it is. It's a great pop album with a great melody. It shines in its simplicity.

One More Light sees the band embracing its melodic core, and offering no apologies as they expound upon it.

A muddled mess of a record from a band that completely abandoned any sense of identity.

The issue isn't that it's a pop effort; indeed, they get points for a brave attempt so outside of their wheelhouse. The problem is that much of One More Light is devoid of that visceral charge that previously defined much of their catalog. It's a provocative challenge that ultimately fails to satisfy.
