The meditative, pandemic-induced Expanse, the playful Auto-Tuned electro-pop of A Little Bit More and the skipping, scampering synth-hooked title track all show how ingeniously and fearlessly this remarkable artist can reinvent herself.

While some of the songs on Oh Snap are as poetic and musically engaging as her best work, others -- including the vocoder-steeped, house-infused number "A Little Bit More" and her brief, off-the-cuff a cappella take on the Commodores' "Brick House" -- though intriguing, never fully transcend the feeling that she's just having some fun in the studio.

Zips from perky jazz runs to fragrant folk odes without breaking a sweat in the elusive search for the genre she can't own. [Nov 2025, p.36]

Lots here is clever and fun, and maybe Oh Snap is an album she needed to make, but heard end to end it's a bumpy ride. [Nov 2025, p.86]
