Mar 11, 2025Off With Her Head is both focused and commanding. Her varied approach to songwriting and crafting results in some of her most unrelenting work yet, and its messiness is charming rather than trying.
-
Record CollectorMar 11, 2025Banks forsakes "overthinking" on this slick, sensuous mix of seductions and aggressions. [Mar 2025, p.102]
-
Mar 17, 2025BANKS still surprises and delights with her unique lyricism, emotive vocals and direct assessments of those who have hurt her alongside herself as an individual. Still, many tracks are damned short and feel like they are lacking necessary bridges to reach their full potential that this album feels quickly consumed and fleeting when we want to stay inside these songs a bit longer.
-
Mar 11, 2025Electronic and acoustic elements blend cohesively together in a testament to BANKS’ practised skill, even if she hasn’t stepped too far from her established sound.
-
Mar 11, 2025Too much of this album purrs by, forgettably and disengaged. Banks really needs to bring herself into focus.
-
Mar 12, 2025Off With Her Head is a solid album, well-produced and with occasional moments of brilliance, but ultimately it’s the singer’s blandest effort to date, its best moments offering little more than a bittersweet reminder of what it could have been.
