An uneasy listen, but also one that’s very satisfying and ultimately rewarding.

The effects, walls of noise, sharp changes in tonality and song structure are engaging and well-executed. Despite stretches of atmospheric passages and droning instrumentals, Never Exhale doesn’t ever feel boring. It is deliberate without being robotic, and creates an introspectively bleak mood throughout the record.
  3. Jan 28, 2025
    80
Never Exhale is not for the faint of heart, and as its name suggests, is often a breathlessly intense, punishing listen, one filled with audible dynamism, sonic interest and gnarled heaviness.

Minor quibbles aside, ‘Never Exhale’ is a gripping exercise in textured menace.

On this their second album they have created a sonic world that is heavy with atmosphere, tension and gothic drama. The anxiety of the guitars and basslines are a thread throughout ‘Never Exhale’ and yet alongwith the striking percussion it all hangs together as a most glorious whole which will envelope the listener and weave its spell.
  6. 70
For all its fury and fragmentation, Never Exhale is remarkably cohesive, a testament to DITZ’s ability to harness chaos into something purposeful.

On Never Exhale, DITZ sound like they’re running on a treadmill at maximum speed, and in a bid to keep up, stumble into knee-jerk turns to some less-than-exciting tendencies perpetuated from their first release.
