Oct 22, 2025The now-classic title track to Born In The USA features twice on the uncommonly strong extras included on this five-disc deluxe reissue of Nebraska. ....The set of Springsteen's solo demos from the Nebraska sessions is startlingly strong, especially the four previously unreleased songs. .... Then there's the original album. Brought into sharper focus via remastering without losing any of its essential murkiness, Nebraska remains the gold standard for modern solo troubadour records.

Oct 20, 2025The remastered Nebraska album and Springsteen’s stately live performance – accompanied by Dylan sideman Larry Campbell and his own Charlie Giordano – complete the story, but the magic comes with the first two discs. They reveal that Nebraska would have been an incredible album if the electric versions of “Atlantic City”, “Johnny 99” and “Downbound Train” were included, but it wouldn’t be Nebraska. [Dec 2025, p.42]

Oct 24, 2025Ultimately, we wouldn’t have wanted “Nebraska” any other way — but listening to the two discs of outtakes in this new set, you get glimpses of how it could have been executed differently and perhaps turned out just about as good, just not as culture-rattling.

MojoOct 20, 2025Holy grail or curate’s egg, diehard fans will run to this 5-disc package and relish even its flaws. Adding the original album simply emphasises what we already knew: Nebraska represents the very best of Bruce Springsteen. [Dec 2025, p.92]

Record CollectorDec 2, 2025While unearthed solo cuts like the eerie Child Bride intrigue, it's the stab at rocking up one of the most wilfully unrocking albums in the canon which really fascinates. [Christmas 2025, p.128]

Oct 22, 2025The glimpses at the making of the album and its various iterations will enthral fans, finally getting the fabled electric sessions. Ultimately, it proves that the album in its original guise in 1982 was a masterstroke, continuing to win new fans to this day and reinventing the home recording process.

Oct 20, 2025If you’re envisioning full-scale E Street Band treatments that turn these bleak, atmospheric laments into stadium anthems, think again. Nebraska or Mansion on the Hill are slightly more expanded instrumentally, with the addition of a Tennessee Three-type rhythm arrangement. It doesn’t make the songs better, but it does take the edge off, thus neutralising their impact.
