Probably the greatest album to come from a female vocalist in the past 30+ years. Lorde creates pure art within the track list and is met with top notch production.

She's very cute and artsy. She kinda reminds me of the villain in Home Alone 2: Lost In NY, how at first glance she smells bad and is scary looking but upon closer inspection has a beautiful redeeming quality. In this case writing Perfect Places.

fter four years of waiting, Lorde has truly delivered one of the best
    pop albums of 2017.
With an exquisite production, the album holds in its catalogue some unforgettable tunes, from the triumphant opener 'Green Light', to the infectious anthem 'Supercut', which highly resembles Robyn's 2010 hit song 'Dancing on My Own', to the Kate Bush-esque ballad 'Writing in the Dark', or the eerie…

Melodrama is the second studio album of Lorde, the singer who’s best known for the major hit song “Royals” from 2012. It deserves mention, along with Beyoncé’s "Lemonade", as one of the best pop albums, as well as one of the best female-solo albums, released in the last few years. It’s the kind collection that you don’t dare delete a single track; not that all eleven tracks are great, though many are (my favorites songs are “Hard Feelings/Loveless” and “Green Light”), but even the lesser ones (like in my opinion “Perfect Places”) are interesting in their own distinctness. It’s smooth, dynamic, soulful, and exhilarating; it’s playful, touching, sensual, and angry. I’ve been listening to it for months, and I’m just as high of praise now as I was then. Highly recommended purchase. Expand

Lorde has a lyrical elegance that allows me to keep coming back, even a year after release, feeling "Melodrama's" emotional complexity.

"Melodrama" delves into Lorde's post-fame life, which also marks as the continuation of where Pure Heroine left off, 3-4 years prior. Sonically, some of the tracks in here also showcase Lorde's growth as an artist, most notably "Hard Feelings / Loveless" and "The Louvre". 10 is too low to describe this album. Well, I was wrong. This album really is "pure heroine". Lorde found a way to reinvent her style and her sound and at the same time every song reminds me to her previous music, but this music just sounds better to me. I can't stop listening to it. It has uptempo, midtempo, ballads and every song got its exact space in the album. It's just perfect. Expand

Melodrama is near perfection. Lorde along with Taylor Swift can now be called the female crusaders of writing all of their music. Melodrama is very well melodramatic it lives up to it's title. There are a few small flaws but overall this album is a work of art and Lorde's best pop offerings to date.

It is raw and cathartic. Written with such passion and mirrored emotions. She vividly translates all of it in lyrics and rhythm. It is everything that an album called melodrama should be.

Hard Feelings/Loveless, the central point of the album, is by far the strongest composition present. about 2.5 minutes in, a most earth shattering and invigorating experience occurs as the music begins to rattle from the core out. this track in particular feels like a detached rollercoaster soaring and rising above feelings of contempt and inferiority. Lorde brings power to every step she climbs, in the launch, in the process AND in the followthrough.
highlights: Supercut, Hard Feelings/Loveless, Homemade Dynamite, Writer in the Dark, Perfect Places (perhaps the most Pure Heroinesque track)

The cohesion between the well crafted songs make this album an incredible experience. Although Lorde is young, she has already created a complete masterpiece. And her voice adds up to this experience to make us feel like there is no one else that can do pop as good as her.

There are no gimmicks. There’s nothing screaming for acceptance. Melodrama is a raw, real album under its sparkly clean production. One written for the masses but able to resonate with each individual listener.

Still only 20 years old, Lorde could have been forgiven for floundering under the weight of expectation. Instead she’s reasserted her status as today’s ultimate alt-pop artist with a record that balances the contemporary with the classic in typically immaculate style.
