Listen, I respect that madonna has been in the game for 4 decades and has set a tone but come on....how do people listen to this auto tuned crap? I'm not saying the whole album is horrible but it definitely isn't innovative and it certainly isn't good. No thank you.

I am a huge Madonna fan, and more to the point a fan of music progression. Madonna is the Queen of pop-music and the Queen of re-invention. I applaud her ability to change her style and experiment as much as she does with her fashion. My criticism is with the treatment of her voice on the album, as she vocodes her way (to a Kanye ‘808 and Heartbreaks’ point) through 15 tracks.

Madame X itself is a solid effort, and more importantly harkens not only to her ‘Ray of Light’ era (through the exploration of world music), but also opens the door for Latin artists Maluma and Anitta to the mainstream. I also appreciate the raw and personal lyrics found in tracks such as ‘Killers Who Are Partying’ and ‘God Control’. What is missing is an element of engagement with the listener as Madonna tries, and only somewhat succeeds, to create depth in modern production tactics.

Listen to: God Control, Dark Ballet, Crazy

There’s no potential hits that might appeal to Billboard Hot 100 but that’s the beauty of this album . It’s not a desperate attempts to gain chart records like Rebel Heart or MDNA and M works best when she went back to trusted producers like Mirwais or perhaps, living in Europe has helped her to gain fresher ideas which resulted in a more organic sound. Critics failed to recognize the beauty of the bizarre and they cannot separate her alter ego Madame X from the real life Madonna which resulted in misleading judgements. To all those fans who complained that she should make another LAP or ROL or COADF, you should know that M only made music if she wants to and if you cannot move forward with these innovative and fresh sound then go home and play The Immaculate Collection then. Lonely because they are few artists with their visibility giving voice to causes that need to be heard. The scenario she describes in God Control is frighteningly the picture of a global politics we live here in Brazil or the USA. Madonna proves in Madame X how much is needed and once again unites pop and art under the eyes of an artist who has seen a lot and feels privileged to be able to continue being heard. Killers Who are Partying is another highlight. It's not at all what I was expecting, and that's a good thing.
Crazy is perhaps the most straight-forward pop song on the album - if someone like Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande put this out, it'd be a #1 hit.
Looking for Mercy is one of the best ballads Madonna's done in a long time. The great thing about Madame X is the variety of styles present - yet, somehow, the entire record works as a whole.

This is one of her best albums to date. It’s strange, epic, emotional and has an important message to all of us. It’s a different pop perfection crafted by one of the most influential artists of all time. Hail Madame X!!!

MadameX is a surprise, very good, interesting album, completely different from her previous work. Madonna is going her own direction, creating album she really feels. Most listen to: Dark Ballet, God Control, Crave, Batuka.

After Hard Candy, MDNA, and Rebel Heart, Madonna has released an album that I genuinely love and doesn't make me feel like I should force myself to like it. It's brazen and weird and polarizing. She should have Mirwais by her side at all times.

Granny Ciccone, I believe it is now time to hang up the microphone, put away those dancing shoes and purchase that chalet in the retirement village. Madge, you used to be a trend-setter but over the last few albums all you have done is chase trends instead of setting them.

I can only imagine our once glorious trend-setting Loca turned on the radio one day and heard Luis Fonsi's hit

I can only imagine our once glorious trend-setting Loca turned on the radio one day and heard Luis Fonsi's hit Despatico blowing up all over the airwaves and immediately rushed into a studio so she could chase that Latin pop.

I tolerated Hard Candy, MDMA was, quite frankly, her worst album to date, and for me Rebel Heart was another half-arsed attempt but seriously give it up now if this is all that you have got left in you. I used to relish the thought of a new Madonna album releasing but now I will rather give my attention to someone else. While I will always love eighties and nineties Madonna (Erotica, Ray of Light and her earlier works are just gems), this new 2010-2019 stuff is just dreadful.

The people rating this one anything higher than a 5 are delusional fans who haven't, or can't accept, that Madge is no longer the Queen of Pop but rather a caricature of her once former brilliant self.

Top tracks: God Control, I Don't Search I Find.

Noioso, brutto, mediocre. Uno scempio considerato avanguardia. Madonna pur di tornare rilevante ha scelto di duettare con il peggio del peggio nel campo del reggaetton, non una volta, DUE. Risultato? Uno schifo. ONE TWO CHA CHA CHA AHAHAH

This album is amazing! The experimental production and the vocal distortions like in Dark Ballet brings such a new age form of music. The blend of other cultures such as Brazil in the song Faz Gostoso is magnificent.

Tiene canciones buenas, pero tristemente la mayoria de las canciones son burdas, con excesivo autotune, monotonas y repetitivas, no es bueno, tampoco tan malo, solo pues, uno mas del montón.

Her most awesome, original, brave, extravagant, inspiring, eclectic and organic album ever. Really love this Madonna face, outside the Industry rules and trends. An album that marks a step further in his amazing artistic career.

Madame X is an agent, a fighter, brings light but also is a popstar. Hearing that album is almost an anthropologic experience. It brings elements of the US pop, Portuguese fado, African beats, French techno (Thanks, Mirwais) an even the Brazilian funk and samba. It’s her best album since confessions, thanks god Madonna is back, showing how to play the game, not following tendencies.Madame X is an agent, a fighter, brings light but also is a popstar. One of her best work in years, "Madame X" make us travel around the world. The best part of this journey is that we are talking from peripheral places. We are able to experience what is not obvious or mainstream. That's why it is so revolutionary, but optimistic. It sounds bizarre in the beginning, but that's the main reason "Madame X" is up to become one of Madonna's classic.

Her best work since Confessions on a Dance Floor. Some may not be able to fully get it, for it is not straightforward pop, but that is what makes this experimental album so special. Also, who else is doing this kind of experimentation with almost 40 years of making music?. She really is the Queen.

Overall, Madonna’s fourteenth album Madame X feels as if Mirwais had mostly completed a decent run-of-the-mill modern pop record, albeit with a cool hotch-potch global feel; hip nods in place to fado, dub and other micro-genres dunked amongst the trap and retro disco. But then just before sign-off, Herself went through the top-lines with a sharpie. ... None of these carefully curated flourishes feel as if they truly live inside the ‘whole’ of this music. Instead it all feels plonked on top of a template.

Madonna has created this music for an audience of one: Herself. Often it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.
