Thrilling and fully realised. .... Adding sax and strings to fill their sound works wonders. By the time they confidently sashay through the multiple-movement title track, it’s clear that this is one of those great leaps forward that bands can only take by growing together over time.

As slippery and unpredictable as ever, this Courting record is indie music for pop fans and pop music for indie fans – there’s enough for everyone to take a bite.

Lust for Life is weirdly joyous and joyously weird, and it's marvelously entertaining either way; it's the band's strongest and most cohesive work yet.

A bit mad, but utterly compelling. [Apr 2025, p.77]

Every one of Lust for Life‘s eight tracks is interesting, and most are unique. Their slightly off-kilter take on guitar rock is rewarding, and the way the end of the album matches up with the beginning is very successful.

‘Lust For Life, Or: ‘How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story’ is infectious, driven by passion and fun, yet built with clear intentions.
  7. 70
Albeit diverging in duration from its predecessors at a mere eight-tracks, Lust for Life remains sufficient in scale to carry such a taste for semi-encrypted post-punk wisecracks.
