This album is flooded with tracks made by "Lil Boat" who is a character that is more rap-centric. This tape is 17 tracks long and only 3 of the tracks are under the 'Lil Yachty' character who is more singing oriented. This lack of variety makes the tape turn stale really quick. Most songs sound way too similar which ends much making the Lil Yachty tracks more refreshing. The first tape had charm that made it funny and listenable. This tape falls into the trend of just flexing the chains you bought, the cars you drive and the hoes you ****

The beats carry this project but i can't help but think about how much better suited they would be to someone like lil uzi, travis scott or even playboi carti. It's not terrible to listen to (like teenage emotions) but its also not a lil yachty album but just another generic trap album. I admit that this squeal to the mixtape 'Lil Boat' is better than the debut album, but it still suffers from what made 'Teenage Emotions' an awful record. Yachty still tries to be cool and less of what people say he is (A positive & happy kind of rapper). 'Lil Boat 2' is a one time listen, better than the first record... but not the first 'Lil Boat'. Only a baby step in the right direction. Expand

Extremely repetitive with some tracks that are laughable bad, the amount of bangers and just okay songs do not outweigh the cons

I think I enjoyed it? I really loved the kind of whimsical production and, fun goofy lyrics but, I really don't know what to make of it overall. Can't decide if it's utter garbage or a masterpiece, I guess it's best to put it somewhere in between.

This isn't that bad of an album, honestly. It's funny that critics are totally panning this but gave Teenage Emotions a mostly positive review... this is clearly more cohesive and polished. I do miss the Yachty crooning on this project, though.

His rapping is coming along. He seems more comfortable in his off-beat style than on any previous project, especially on Boom and Oops. Yachty

His rapping is coming along. He seems more comfortable in his off-beat style than on any previous project, especially on Boom and Oops. Yachty seems like one of those artists that works best when there's not a lot of pressure on him and he has a template to guide him; I think that's what makes his features so good (see Mixtape, D to the A, Broccoli). Unfortunately, it does kind of feel like the hate has gotten to him, especially in the press run interviews for this project. He looks drained and unenthusiastic. And these records seem to carry a bit of that weight. I remember he used to say that he doesn't talk about guns because he's not about that life; now, one of the hottest hooks on the record is about someone snatching his chain and getting shot.

I really want to see Yachty win. I don't know why. He just seems like a good guy. But this project maybe isn't what he needs. As a sequel to Lil Boat 1, it's a bit confusing--there is a minimal amount of the happy-go-lucky aesthetic from the original on this album. To my ears, it seems more of a sequel to Summer Songs 2 than anything else.

I don't know if LB1 Yachty is ever coming back. It seems increasingly possible that the Yachty of LB1 was a flash in the pan, the product of an idealistic kid with big ideas and no one to tell him otherwise. I hope for all of our sakes he can regain that fire. He is certainly talented, I think he just needs the right producers and songwriters to guide him, and people around him that will encourage the wackier aspects of his creativity instead of trying to fit him in the QC mold.

This is the sort of album that you listen once and forget about it 10 minutes later. No songs on here really stand out at all. I really think he needs to go back to what made him successful

A pretty average project with a few bangers, mostly thanks to the features from Ugly God and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

There's an abundance of low-wattage boasts about financial and libidinal surpluses, most of which could have been composed by a generator. Softer and more melodic cuts are indicated with all-lowercase track titles. ... If Yachty can find a way to be his goofy self and elevate his writing, he can rebound.

Lil Boat 2 is a simply a weird musical vacation that sets sail into the strange mind of the impactful red-haired youngster.

Despite these moments [“NBA YoungBoat” and “66”], it’s disheartening that virtually every lyric from Yachty on Lil Boat 2 is wholly unmemorable.
