The subtleties written into the album's DNA make all the difference (with the mention of the album's title in so many of the lyrics acting as unifying sentiment), almost to a faultless degree.

A record you’re sure to fall hopelessly in love with, its immediacy taps into the endless zen of those long summer days.

‘Life’s A Beach’’s lasting impact is its confrontation of depression and self-doubt: this is a record that will make you feel deeply as well as provide a soundtrack for your first post-lockdown festival.

A melancholy streak runs through the album’s second half where tales of devotion (‘Lifeboat’), longing (‘Daydreams’) and ruminations on mental health and anxiety (‘Nightmares’, ‘Living Strange’) shine.

They are catchy, relatable, atmospheric in a sense, emotional at some points, but overall somewhat of an oddball compared to other pop acts. I suppose some of my issues with this is that the album sounds kind of generic, bland, and just "meh." There were some good moments here (Skeletons, Music to Walk Home To) and some bad moments there (Lifeboat), but personally, I don't have much to say about this. The production is nice; the mixing is okay, and I guess the music isn't offending anybody. Overall this sounds like something you would hear while shopping for clothes; not too crazy and not too boring, just "meh."

    Overall score: 5.4/10
Favorite tracks: Music to Walk Home To, Skeletons
    Least favorite tracks: Lifeboat
