    Kudos shows a lot of potential. Songs like "Yazuka Park" reveal that they're capable of switching things up. They just need to balance it out, instead of riding steadily on the same distortion-heavy waves.

    The album is certainly easy to listen to but it could do with a bit more of the focus, directness and urgency of the band's EP. Perhaps, then Surf City will get the kudos they are looking for.

    Surf City spend the first third of Kudos hanging out with that same apathetic throng, but then surprise with a handful of genuinely exciting moments.
