Wide-eyed in sound and vision, three is the magic number for Sacred Paws. They haven’t just jumped into life... they’ve leaped.

An album that has not only been well worth the wait but also, a clear indicator of the benefits of having an incubation period and what happens when artists are intentional in slowing down the process in order to get the best results.

Listen closely and the lyrics are raw in places in terms of questioning oneself and yet grow in self-confidence and belief as the album progresses, perhaps reflecting experience. However all of this is wrapped in the most glorious music, full of spirit and vitality.

The whole thing might seem too darn cheerful -- maybe to a fault to the more hard-hearted -- but the duo rescue themselves from overload thanks to the muscular energy they impart to the rhythm section, the whipping bite of Aggs' guitar lines, and the overall forward drive the duo employ on every song.

The additional tone colors are welcome throughout, and their basic style remains highly entertaining and engaging. Yet the lack of any real change of pace, stylistically or even tempo-wise, makes it hard to ignore how similar these songs sound. Still, with 11 tracks lasting just over 31 minutes, Jump Into Life doesn’t hang around long enough to wear out its welcome.

Jump Into Life feels like a vital reminder of how the expression of joy can serve as both an act of resistance and a demonstration of resilience. [Jul 2025, p.33]
