    A colossal popcorn fart. Every song begins with a piano intro just to let you know this is all "seriously weighty". Not one memorable melody and lyrically it's embarrassing...yeah, we know who your Dad is and your childhood was a pisser. At 59 years old you'd think dude would've gotten some therapy by now.     Jude is Lennon’s singular statement, his purposeful pronouncement, his pivotal turn as far as coming into his own with music that bears a grander scope.

    If Jude lacks in immediacy, such melodic tunes as "Not One Night" suggests this is intentional: Lennon has traded direct pop for an elliptical route that suits his skin.

    Respite comes with the atmospheric closer, Gaia – a nicely understated duet with Elissa Lauper that also features the Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan – but it doesn’t make up for the pedestrianism elsewhere.
