I loved the difference of this album from his previous mix tapes. It showed how much he's matured as a musician and as a person. Also, who else can get these amazing artists to feature on one album?? All the tracks stand on their own, but Still Life and Change...wow. I look forward to future works by RM.

In this work RM integrates all the facets of the art that he has been integrating, beginning by calling his album indigo and based on the minimalism of a Korean painter, with that alone he gives us the tone of how much he expresses in the album. Then we have collaborations with excellent artists, who like to make music beyond trends, the participation of some of them speaks of the respect they have for RM as a composer. On the other hand, RM integrates them and we got to know several of them that we did not know thanks to RM's inclusive vision and his leadership in the musical union. His lyrics are sincere within the framework of poetic texts and his voice exposes it with the same sincerity without wanting to exalt emotions beyond what is necessary, wanting to be "musically minimalist" hand in hand with the texts. The music is very nice without wanting to be ostentatious, but it is inevitable to appreciate that despite wanting to return to the simple and fundamental, there is an RM who has grown and changed, more sensitive to artistic expressions and generous in wanting to explore his experience walking with other artists, the musical richness is undeniable. He already knows who he is and what he can do for himself and with these collaborations he seeks to continue enriching his experience by transcending to another level of creativity. Like a flower captured in a painting in which his beauty is immortalized, so RM captured the beauty of music and poetry in this album to cherish forever. Expand

The decision that RM (the leader of the group BTS from South Korea) made in choosing "featuring" artists (RM actually uses the word "with" versus "featuring") that he felt would enhance the meaning of the songs indicates how important these songs are to him. He wrote the lyrics for all the songs, and his true passion for the written word is clearly exhibited in this album. I feel like RM genuinely loves making music. Expand

About Wild Flower... Really love how RM said he didn't want to be like fireworks, because even tho it's so flashy and everyone would stop and stare at it in amazement, it also dies so quickly and ppl even forget what they look like in a minute. But flowers, when you throw them in the air and the petals explode, it's so ethereal that even as it falls down, it falls with grace and gives you a lasting impression and a sense of tranquillity. That's how he wants to be, and it's fitting to think that's also how the rest of BTS wanted to be : not just a passing presence in the music world, but people that made a genuine impact to the world through their music.

His previous work, mono, was a mood playlist, but Indigo is more like a journal recording different thoughts and feelings. The styles and sounds cover everything from folk, to hip hop to city pop, but the sentiments and philosophy are pure Kim Namjoon.

The songs flow into each other, taking the listener on a rollercoaster ride. The lead single Wild Flowers is an explosive soundscape with beautiful lyrics, the MV a gorgeous treat for the senses. Singer Yunjeen's voice is laden with emotion in the hook. No. 2 closes the album in a quiet sigh, a realization that where you're at is good, no need to look back. All the collaborations add flavor and depth to the music, helping to present a fuller picture of RM.

For me, though, the best track is Change. Its quirky musicscape and mumbled lyrics are just so different. Yes, everything changes in this world. As you mature you come to this realization. How you accept this will determine whether you are happy, dissatisfied or plain miserable in your life.

I recommend this album and strongly encourage people to listen to it from beginning to end.

The album has a very chill vibe, a good variety of songs, and some very unique feature artists. Love his vocals in Forg_tful and No.2.

This Album has variety of genre which was refreshing. Most of the album I listened has a common theme and sound and sometimes, it just get too boring for me. I love the fact that you can pick a song in this album depending on your mood. I hope RM continuous to make music in the future.

Indigo is timeless. The cross over of artists showed their elements as musicians. RM is definitely versatile and this album will go beyond now

This album just makes me feel well. It just welcomes every emotion with open arms and lets you feel whatever you want, without being ashamed of anger or sadness or any other negative emotion.
To me, it’s an invite to keep going and to face yourself.

Every song on Indigo is miles different from the song you just heard. Deep stories for every one of them, the majority have a metaphor to live by which is always welcomed. Philosophy and food for thought with a great vibe.

Indigo is truly incredible. The album is short and concise. It has great lyrics. While RM plays with a lot of different genres, all the songs on the album still feel connected. The features on the album are perfect for each song. The title track 'Wildflower' is beautifully made. Change pt.2 was an unpredictable surprise. The production on that track was mind-blowing. I enjoyed this record, though I would have preferred fewer collabs and more rm. I felt the record was not
very cohesive in favor of stylistic diversity (to
Attract collabs? Follow trends?) RM is one of my favorite artists, so there are a couple of tracks I will def listen to again and again.

I had high hopes for RM's first solo album, but I am a bit disappointed, to be honest. This feels like Mono 2.0 but with collabs. I had really high hopes on this based on mono. but I was unfortunately a bit underwhelmed. Namjoon remains an incredible storyteller and this album flows well as a whole, taking on lighter themes and sound than his previous works. However I found some tracks to be unnecessary. Closer is probably the weakest to me as I found Paul Blanco's verse and voice to be a bit insufferable. Some of the hooks and vocals on the album didn't land well with me and I wish there was more Namjoon and less features as it is his first official solo album and something I was really looking forward to! Yun and No. 2 are very strong openers/enders to the project and I do feel it told a cohesive story even if it didn't connect with me as much as I had hoped. Expand

Ahh... I wanted to like this album a lot, seeing the sincerity that RM expressed through it. But I honestly didn't appreciate it as much as I'd hoped. I keep some songs close to me, like Yun, which is truly relaxing and carries a lot of emotion but in a smooth and kind way, Change pt2, which I find quite interesting musically and vocally has the most sincere emotion from RM, and No2 that I think is just the best out of all the songs. Wildflower is really out of left field for my musical tastes but I actually love the chorus, RM has great taste in other artists and is very good at picking out what voices & talents will mix well with his songs & voice ! In terms of lyrics, some imagery was quite impactful, it's a very reassuring album overall even though it knows when to dip into anger when needed, and I think a lot of people will find it relatable, thought it wasn't always the case for me, depending on the songs, I still am glad to see personal and original lyrics like those RM wrote for Indigo !

Simply put, I didn't particularly like all the productions on Indigo, I don't think that the album feels cohesive in terms of music from top to bottom, it starts and ends strongly but it loses me on some tracks like Forg_tful, Lonely or even Hectic, who really just don't land. It all feels very "clean" and proper, so I get why people would like this release for those qualities, but personnally I felt like it missed the honest emotions it wanted to bring out. As far as personal taste goes, I liked RM's rapping much more in this album than his singing, even though his singing in Mono deeply touched me, in this album it felt more like "this is who i want to be" singing than "this is who i am" singing, it felt unnatural in most of the songs.. very abstract but.. i get me. All in all, it was a peaceful listening experience, but it's not an album I'll keep close to me except for a few songs, and I'll stay curious to see what RM continues to bring out.

Indigo is an eye-opening taste of what RM is truly capable of outside the bounds of the K-pop powerhouse.

It’s too early to tell if the record will help the BTS leader achieve his goal of creating something truly timeless but, in this moment, ‘Indigo’ feels like a masterpiece with the potential to be remembered as a classic.

Some moments fall flat – Lonely is cloying, paint-by-numbers EDM-pop that doesn’t fully land. Still, Indigo is a polished collection that spans both pop and rap with confidence.
