  1. With the multifarious tributaries flowing effortlessly into the whole, I Thought I Was Over That has a diverse coherence that is hard to define and establishes itself as a distinct entity in its own right.
  2. Alternative Press
    80
    Laid-back and largely instrumental glitch-pop. [Jul 2005, p.186]
  3. A few songs are experiments that should have stayed in the studio; "Left-Handed Dub" is dreadful and the remixes by Flowchart and Two Lone Swordsmen are a bit dated--too ‘90s-sounding. But that's still only one tenth of the album, the rest of which is a pleasure.
  4. The compilation will not alter your opinions of Lali Puna. But between the new material and older cuts previously scattered across numerous singles and compilations,I Thought I Was Over That is something fans old and new will want to have around.
  5. Under The Radar
    80
Coats your ears like a warm blanket. [#10, p.111]
  6. There is no shortage of experimentation here.
  7. The surprise is that it's as cohesive as it is, with remixers and remixes alike plumbing the same lines of soft-edged, computer-processed home-listening lullabies.
  8. Uncut
    70
Shows Lali Puna's more adventurous side. [Aug 2005, p.110]
  9. Sadly, the album's consistency is also its failing; you can only take so much softness... before you're just listening to elevator music, and after 19 tracks that's what this becomes.
  10. If it were condensed down to one disc, it would appeal to more than the most devout.
  11. Urb
    60
Their micro-programmed folk has worn thin due to imitators. [Jul/Aug 2005, p.107]
  12. New Musical Express (NME)
    60
Manages to contain enough surprise turns and twists... to keep you interested. [25 Jun 2005, p.64]
  13. Mojo
    60
The best moments on this double CD are those which foreground Valerie Trebeljahr's sighingly lovely vocals. [Aug 2005, p.120]
  14. With a delight/track tally of about one in four, this compilation won't make Lali Puna a lot more fans (nor does it deserve to), but it will keep their fey indie followers convinced of their own dreaminess whilst providing the illusion of alternative cred and strangeness.
  15. Sleepy, sporadic and inconsistent.

i totally agree with RIchard H, the remixes are average (although To Rococo Rot's remix of Grin and Bear is fantastic), but the b-sides, i totally agree with RIchard H, the remixes are average (although To Rococo Rot's remix of Grin and Bear is fantastic), but the b-sides, rare tracks and new ones are amazing. Past Machine is my favorite track here and I hope the new Lali Puna recordings are as krautrock as this song. Full Review »

Although the remixes get a little tiresome, the "new" content is quite good.
