Deciding which song is the most evocative may be a matter of personal taste, but for my money, it’s “Big Chris Electric.” A story told with loving detail, Ashworth is accompanied by somber synth pads and keyboards as he sings about Chris, a hard-working electrician who falls in love with Yvonne, a single mother and divorcee.

This thing is quiet. It’s cozy. It’s simple. It’s, to be blunt, a vibe. Horrible Occurrences is a warm blanket during this time of year where the days can stretch on forever and the nights can swallow me whole.

While it can feel a bit dry at times, it shows that Ashworth's songwriting is as strong and affecting as ever.
