Lana keeps improving her sound with each album, and Honeymoon further asserts this claim. Her lyrics have hit their peak in this album, giving us even more memorable lines and tragic choruses to listen to. The contrast of the slow and silky Honeymoon to the synthetic and fast High by the Beach provides an interesting contrast. One minute one could be absorbing drawn out and soulful sounds, and trap-inspired, low words spat out in a quiet anger. Salvatore's Italian sound and Freak's "muddy trap" music are the two standouts of an overall flawless album. Expand

...If only her producers didn't have such a raging hard-on for the reverb knob. I get it's her sound and all but it wears thin very quickly and makes listening to the entire album difficult.

Best Songs: Honeymoon, Salvatore, 24 (this is as close to a Bond tune as we've ever gotten from her)

Worst Song: High By The Beach

Lazy, lazy, lazy. I feel like Lana Del Rey has an advantage over many artists: the fact that she has a wonderful voices which she seemingly refuses to use. I really love the baselines in many songs, the lyrics are enticing however (as usual) she doesn't give any outstanding vocal performances. I really think she can!

Entertainment Weekly called it "stubbornly retro" in a positive light. Yes, it is stubbornly retro. ALL OF HER ALBUMS HAVE BEEN. I'm tired of the whole "bad girl born in the wrong generation" influence that she force feeds every album. Not even Dan Auerbach could make her interesting. This record is a reiteration of all of the points she's already made and I'm really getting bored of hearing it.

Del Rey returns with the same transcendent voice however Honeymoon does not justify her previous two LPs in her repertoire. Honeymoon remains Lana Del Rey's weakest album to date.

My problem is that I can't stand her voice, it's too sloppy and dark. As for the album, there are some decent songs like Terrence Loves You, Religion and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (which, by the way, it's a cover of the Nina Simone classic). Overrated, pretentious and artsy.

Este no fue su disco, ni mucho menos mi favorito. Este álbum fue evidentemente repetitivo y no lo puntúo por menos por mi amor a su música en general.

This album is the culmination of all her past works and sounds. It has elements from "Ultraviolence", "Born To Die", "Paradise" and "AKA". A solid effort, where the tracks flow nicely one into the other.

Unfortunately for Lana, Honeymoon lacks variety more than any project in her career thus far. Despite an interesting concept and volatile instrumentals, the vision gets easily blurry between boredom and a fake fashionable depth. She drags places that aren't interesting or even familiar. With a name like Lana Del Rey, I knew she was destined for something awesome and that it was just a matter of time. I even liked the dress she wore to the Academy Awards, despite what all the fashion critics saying how tacky it was. It was such a retro dress - vintage looking. Lana has really come into her own with this album. Fusing pop styles with blues and jazz gives way to a fully realized idea of a modern woman trapped behind archaic ideas of romance.

Let me first start by saying that Lana is my favourite artist so, i was a little worried that this album will underwhelm me. I was very wrong, the album was great, it was coherent and every song worked on its own and as a part of the whole album. My favourites are Terrence Loves You, High By The Beach, Honeymoon, Salvatore and The Blackest Day. Well, actually every song is amazing.

Again Del Rey creates a beautifully retro album, and though its pretty and soft, I feel a disconnect. This is probably the first album in Del Rey's career without a clear concept. The singles are the best tracks and deserve to be on repeat. Download: High by the Beach, Music to Watch Boys By, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Though lyrics might seem a little one dimensional and undeveloped, their simplicity opens out with the slow and dark atmospheres that surround them. Lana kicks repetetivity in the head as well, finally working to resolve these problems that revolved around last years stripped down, bleak Ultraviolence.
The darkness remains, some might argue she hasn't moved immensely far, but this is Lana

This album it is so perfect from the visual art to the lyrics and the beats of the songs. Lana is an absolutely incredible artist and her albums speak for themselves. Honeymoon is powerful and fragile at the same, with no doubts it's one of the best albums of the year.

The album's title track starts things off with a slow, gentle crawl, calling back to the breakthrough hit that saw Lana rise to prominence in the first place - "Video Games." Much like "Video Games," "Honeymoon" is orchestral and cinematic, slowly rising to the song's conclusion before gently coming back down. Still, "Honeymoon" is markedly different. The crawl seems even slower and lethargic; everything is drawn out to the most extreme degree. It fits as an opener because the rest of the album reflects what this song brings to the table. Honeymoon is a sparse and empty collection of the most assured songs in Lana's discography yet. It moves slower than a glacier, clocks in at over an hour, and the compositions are often barren. Somehow, it's the best album Lana Del Rey has ever put together. Expand

By combining all the styles of her previous work into one album, Honeymoon shows that Lana Del Rey has evolved from the melodramatic ballads of Born to Die to create her most focused and well-produced album to date. "High by the Beach" and "Freak" are Del Rey's catchiest songs yet while "Salvatore" and "Honeymoon" are more subdued tracks that contain a lot of emotion.

Such a strong album from a strong artist and is arguably her best album sonically speaking. If you like BTD or Paradise, then this is the album for you, with more baroque pop and trap than UV. Overall, my faves are High By the Beach, Salvatore, Freak and Terrence Loves You.

    Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon
