This time Olivia Rodrigo went so original that you can’t compare her songs with anyones. It kinda reminds of some rock artists, but still has one hundred percent of her personality. The personality of a girl teenager living thru love, fights, and the fears of real life.

SOOOOOO GOOD BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME i love it so much, best work ever, the quality of EACH AND EVERY song is insane. The songs are so diverse which is what makes an album really good. I thought SOUR was amazing and I didn’t think it could get any better. If i could rate above the scales I would. Love u Olivia, changed my life. Expand

Impressive continuation of her previous work, you can see how mature the lyrics and production are and I think it is a very good construction to take adolescence as a metaphor for suffering.

what a **** album!!! she did it again and BETTER

Rodrigo is thinking about her age a lot in a few of these new songs, considering the precipice she’s on as teendom gives way to adulthood, without writing anything quite so cloying as a full-scale “not a girl, not yet a woman” anthem. “I know my age and I act like it,” she sings in the opening number, “All-American **** a rocker in which

Rodrigo is thinking about her age a lot in a few of these new songs, considering the precipice she’s on as teendom gives way to adulthood, without writing anything quite so cloying as a full-scale “not a girl, not yet a woman” anthem. “I know my age and I act like it,” she sings in the opening number, “All-American **** a rocker in which she embraces not-so-resting ****face, for **** ‘n’ giggles. The singer is being somewhat tongue-in-cheek in that irreverent opener, but she’s on to a big part of her appeal, to date: that a lot of her stuff has been flagrantly about being an adolescent, without trying to sound too seasoned before her time. The semi-self-effacing rudeness continues with “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” — which is certainly a contender for the ballsiest song title of the year, for starters. There’s no letdown in hearing the actual tune, a take on terminal social awkwardness that turns out to be virtually her tribute to Nirvana. (Here we are now, let us remain awkwardly in the kitchen at the party.)

Industry plant records more music written by a team of 40+ year old white men in a corner office at Geffen, intended to be basic enough to appeal to the masses but also be sad/emotional/angsty enough for preteen girls.

Genuinely such a basic album. Not only basic, but it just sounds bad. Every song feels the same, and most of them feel like they were made to go straight to a 2000 teenage film. Sour was great, but this album made me lose a lot of respect for Olivia. The lyrics are cheap, the sound is cheap and reused, and I cant see myself listening to any of the songs ever again. Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS album is an extraordinary display of her exceptional artistry and emotional depth. With its vivid tapestry of vulnerability, capturing the intricacies of heartache and self-discovery, this sonic masterpiece heralds Rodrigo's promising future in the music industry.

The risk she took making a rock influenced album is truly commendable. This album was showed growth from her last record SOUR and is one of the best sophomore albums of this decade.

The clear influence of many artists is involved in this album. The project could have been a big deal IF they would've released it back in the 2000s.

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.
