'Guts' is basically just a bunch of leftovers from 'Sour', which was already boring given it was just your average cheesy teenage album about an annoying ex trying to make sure her old boyfriend is portrayed as the biggest monster ever for committing the capital sin of breaking up with her.

This album is just a compilation of Disney Channel pop-rock rejects about a now grown teen taking a love delusion too far. Sorry Olivia, but writing your own lyrics is far from enough for being a good artist, especially with such a mediocre and obviously studio edited singing voice.

This album is undoubtedly a great lyrical, honest and emotional performance. Olivia Rodrigo did a great job

I feel bits of innovation in some tracks, but it all feels like a continuation of SOUR, something that could've been on their previous album and would be the same.

Firstly, I think this album is really good. Each song has its own unique features, and the lyrics are also quite interesting and satirical. Especially the ending song is really sad, and ending with a sad ending is really great! Olivia Rodrigo's talent is undeniable. We need to look at it rationally and not too subjectively. Olivia Rodrigo's talent is undeniable. We need to look at it rationally and not too subjectively. Comparing with others is completely meaningless behavior, and comparing with ourselves is the true competition. No one is perfect, and no one's things will be liked by everyone. Therefore, based on rational judgment, I have seen her growth and dedication for this album. Many rock songs have really brought me back to the 2000s! Keep working hard! I support you! Both subjective and objective support you! Expand

I love this album more then Sour. So much less ballad heavy and is more fun. And I love the Pop/Punk or Pop/Rock throughout many of the songs.

The album is just an expansion of the sound brutal offered on her debut album, a sound that’s more of noisy, gimmicky and pretentious. Didn’t enjoy this record.

This was an absolute amazing body of work. Olivia Rodrigo is a musical genius, and with Guts, she has cemented herself as one of the dominant forces in today’s music industry. It’s fun to so hear how much she has developed, both sonically and lyrically, and the songs are so well produced as well. You have to take a listen!

Not my type of music. This just sounds so noisy and nothing special unless you like screaming... The ballads are better but just okay level. Couldn't understand the rave reviews from critics. It's a extremely overrated record.

The metacritic reviews are overrated LOL. This is just a favourable album tho. But I should say the album is mainly influenced of Avril Lavigne, Paramore and Katy Perry (One of the Boys era). And I could agree that most songs in the album are SOUR's leftover. It's just her voice and lyrics that stand out.

The first five songs were great, especially Vampire. But after that? I was not impressed. I tuned out for the second half of the album.

A very cohesive album concept-wise, with brilliant vocals from Olivia Rodrigo and equally brilliant songwriting that will resonate to adolescents and adolesent-at-heart with its expertly crafted prose and undeniable sincerity.

This album was SOO good. It’s a lot different than sour, but still has enough similarities to not make the change too jarring. My personal favorites at this point are: all American **** Lacy, the grudge, and ballad of the homeschooled girl. So far there are no skips!

The vast majority of songs are good and catchy but it is still not very innovative, I would say it is only a little worse than their first work.

Extremely well I’m literally obsessed by how she made her follow up album completely different year still her from her previous work. This is genuinely AOTY worthy at the Grammys and that’s nothing to scoff at.

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.

These songs show that Rodrigo isn’t done after GUTS.
