A zillion voices, zillions of instruments/percussion, and mysterious references/storylines. No way to digest this in one sitting. Everything sounds beautiful, piano, various creaks. Singing is great. Effects are enriching. It must have been a challenge to make this feel cohesive. I’m thinking Brand New mixed with alt-J, recent Bon Iver, and Teen Suicide. Confident, experimental, bonkers. It's an admirable fleshing out of all the things Alex has done best. The leading "runner"s anxiety or "no bitterness" folky Americana . This record feels like a sweet in-between of the coutry Americana of "rockets" and bizzare folktronica of "house of sugar" .
