    folklore is an embodiment of Taylor's sonic versatility. With a 180 shift from pop to indie, from the ambient sounds to the wistful and elegiac lyrics, this album is timely and inimitable in the pop music scene. It deserves every achievement it garners.

    Wow, what a fantastic surprise !! The old taylor has come back to the phone, and changed her clothes. Here we get bits of all the things that make a taylor swift record great. We get swifts fantastic storeytelling and sense of melody in a folky incarnation without the sheen from her previous incarnations. This lets the songs shine and what great songs we get. But she isn't just a songwriter, she is a storyteller, she is a poet. I feel like she is proving that the most with songs like hoax, the lakes, my tears ricochet.
    This work of art will give you chills, you will fall in love with the whole album more and more each time you listen to it. I highly recommend it!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Folklore is that kind of album you can listen to on a rainy autumn day curled up in your blanket or listen to it on a long midnight car drive with your headphones on or blasting it with the windows down.
    It is definitely a collection of old stories, memories, just like Taylor described it. I definitely think you can find the smallest parts of your heart in any of these songs.
    It puts you in your feels, it makes you think about stuff, it takes you on a whole emotional roller-coaster, and I truly believe those are the definitions of the greatest art works. They make you think, they make you feel.    … Expand

    Taylor most sonically cohesive album in my opinion, and a perfect example of her talent to switch genres whenever she wants. Lyrically perfect and I also find it so relaxing, one of my favorite Taylor’s albums.

    Charming, relaxing, magic and with exquisite and playful songwriting, as usual if it comes from Taylor. Floklore is an enchanted forest full of vivid manifestations and feelings.

    Everything about this album is simply amazing.

    Each and every song has a different meaning, yet it all seems to connect somehow. The melodies, the way Swift uses her voice to express true feelings is so soft and pure. The album it self, seems very mature and is one of Swift's finest works. Even though it was produced in a very short time, Folklore delivered great things.

    The best Taylor Swift album for me. I like the calm vibes on this. The lyrics are pure genius. My fave is My Tears Ricochet and I do not skip any songs/

    I wait a long time for this review, but that was because I wanted to see how it aged in me. Of course, aged is in this case, almost a month after it´s released. Anyway, I think that in that time, the album has "aged" pretty well. When I first listened to this album I was a little confused, I knew that the lyrics were incredible, but the overall tone and the mood was very different from other projects that it was a little confusing, but after listening over and over, the songs have grown on me, much more than I hoped. What really shines is her lyrics, as almost every Taylor Swift song, but in this project, the soft music combined with the lyrics makes it all so much more emotional, honest and mature. Her voice is so mature as well that, even though we can recognize that is her singing, we have to compare her voice in latest projects and see that she has changed and is not the same person when she wrote "Love Story" or "Blank Space" or "Delicate". I believe that this is gonna be on the top of a lot of critics best albums of the year, because, besides the comparisons with her other albums, this is, on its own, a masterpiece. I personally think that is Taylor´s best album, but my favorites will still be "Speak Now" and "1989"… Expand

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
