    Folklore steals the spotlight from Red as the album that really showcases miss Swift’s songwriting ability. These raw lyrics and interesting narratives are accompanied by Taylor’s haunting vocals with a perfect production to match which makes the album stand out from the rest.

    Compared to the previous albums such as 1989 and Reputation which were both made for the masses to enjoy, the    Folklore steals the spotlight from Red as the album that really showcases miss Swift’s songwriting ability. These raw lyrics and interesting narratives are accompanied by Taylor’s haunting vocals with a perfect production to match which makes the album stand out from the rest.

    Compared to the previous albums such as 1989 and Reputation which were both made for the masses to enjoy, the Folklore album is more vulnerable and personal with no interest on impressing, just on expressing, which made the audience feel more closer to the artist. Another evidence of this is the artist’s sudden switching of gears from her usual Pop sound to something more Indie folk and alternative which is the perfect genre for story telling other than country, which is also briefly explored through the song “Betty”.

    What’s also great about the album is how cohesive it is yet each song can easily be separated from the other. The album also encourages most of its viewers to pull up their dictionaries and create their own storylines by connecting songs to see which is related to the other and I can personally say that it is indeed a Taylor Swift learning experience.    … Expand

    I have been a swiftie for a long time and I can say that this is among the best Taylor albums, it is incredible, each track is better than the other, Taylor really showed her strength as a songwriter.

    Best songs on this album, according to me, are cardigan, exile, my tears ricochet, mirrorball, august, invisible string, hoax, the lakes (bonus track).

    Though this album is unlike anything Taylor has ever done before, the tracks seven, mirrorball and illicit affairs appear to be more different than any other song on the album. Her vocal performance is better than ever, with the mellow and breathy voice she sings, this is most prominent in seven.

    If you love an album that has depth, beauty in lyrics, and unforgettable tunes, is cohesive (this is Taylor's most cohesive album, better than 1989 I'd say), is relatable, happy, sad, wistful, with elements of summer, fall, winter, spring, and monsoon, this is the album I'll recommend to you.     The album is wonderful and intimate, it shows different interconnected stories in its songs that make us travel to another world and imagine ourselves in the situation of each character to whom the song portrays, like Betty, who was betrayed and clearly was a person who expected love eternal and magnificent, but James didn't know how to give it to her.

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
