Another impressive feather in one of the most versatile caps in Parisian pop music.

The soulfulness and melancholy of these songs make them special among Tellier's body of work, giving more depth to Confection than might be expected.

Tellier’s Confection is an experimental anthology. It’s not entirely what you might expect, and there’s no doubt it won’t be to everyone’s taste.

A restorative step, perhaps, and we await his next move with interest. [Jan 2014, p.78]

It feels like a very French-pop-star gesture, extravagant and essentially useless, and perversely enjoyable for exactly those reasons.

In overall the first fiveThis could have been a great concept album as I saw the two first tracks were about Tellier's grandmother death. In overall the first five tracks were interesting, with cool variations and highs and lows. It compiles amazing instrumentals with classic singing from Tellier mixing french and english.

I found that track 6 ('Waltz') was totally garbage: it destroyed everything Tellier constructed just before. I sounds childish, unstructured and overly shrill and experimental. The rest of the album seems to recreate what this track annihilated by using the same structure, beats and themes.

The subjects adressed appear to be truly redundant. As I speak french I believe that I got the entire message, and its all about love, love and boring love. Lyrics are parsimonious and often sound incomplete and evasive. If it have its charm it quickly becomes dull even for this album which lasts only 35 minutes. Tellier also found attractive to craft concept-songs like 'L'amour naissant' or 'Curiosa' that decline itself in 3 and 2 tracks respectively. Not that huge and interesting anyway. To prove his total lack of originality and inspiration he also created similar titles like 'Delta Romantica' and 'Le delta des amours' which are almost synonyms. And it goes the same for 'Coco' and 'Coco et le labyrinthe'. Just copied and pasted the few ideas he had. In overall as disappointing as repetitive.
