Taylor takes that responsibility as a solo artist and runs with it, throwing everything and anything into the mix; there are the standard sounds you’d expect from him, but there’s also country, blues-based hard rock, punk and some rap-rock thrown in for good measure. And therein lies the issue with CMFT: rather than those disparate influences somehow mixing to become a whole, they’re left to stand on their own. The more you listen to CMFT, the more it comes across as ‘Corey Taylor does (insert genre here)’ rather than something cohesive.

Co-Funder of Stone Sour in 1992 and member of Slipknot since 1997, Corey Taylor starts his soloist career with "CMFT". Corey has fun playing and singing with dynamism while exposes his reflections about spirit, romance, and personality. Corey's voice is powerful, untiring, and surprises by keeping the intensity that the instruments demand. The disturbance of the chorus with the guitars, the aura of musical theater that will divide opinions, and the energy in each track is something entertaining to hear. Carey Taylor and Jay Ruston add some post-grunge that gives sensibility and maturity to the music. They also add some country, Groove-Metal, nu-metal, stoner rock, and alternative rock to the production, but these genres are not explored properly. That doesn't damage the experience, but it makes it inconsistent. Even though he needs more solidity in the concept for his music doesn't sparse, this album helps him to complement a promising future in the hard rock industry.
