This is Allie's best album so far. I loved everything about it. The production and the lyrics are literally from another world.

It's something completely different from what we have already heard from X, fresher, cool but feels raw sometimes. Still a nice journey to go through in a time of quietness.

literally this album is a work of art and was totally undervalued, and neither the awards nor the critical media know how to value this type of work. An album full of beautiful melodies, voices, lyrics, thanks to our Allie X for giving us an excellent and impeccable job on each album or EP.

Lush production all around however some songs aren't fully satisfying. Best songs include Sarah Come Home, June Gloom and Susie Save Your Love, where Allie's choice in production perfectly sync up with really nice melody making

El mejor álbum de Allie X, definitivamente es Cape God. La letra y producción de Fresa Laundry y Susie Save Your Love son las mejores de todos los proyectos anteriores de la cantante, siendo este el mejor álbum independiente de este año junto a Sawayama

This album shows off Allie X's talented vocals and lyricism. The album is cohesive and has a dark, yet energetic tone to a lot of this. With highs like Love Me Wrong and Rings a Bell. The album is her best work yet.

Cape God has a haunting beauty to it. Allie X creates a vivid story of eccentricity and internal battle. Every time I listen to it I like it a little more. While we saw Allie X experiment with character building and concept albums with Super Sunset, Cape God shows even further development.

I signed up for Metacritic specifically so I could review this album. This is album is honestly the definition of perfect pop. There are bops, bangers, depression bops, depression bangers, all of the above. Honestly speechless. Thank you miss Allie X for enlightening us, I needed it

I was tired of listening to main pop artists so I decided to look for something fresh to add to my playlist. I suddenly saw that Australian singer Troye Sivan had collaborated with a female singer whose existence I was somehow ignoring. That's how I came against Allie X and how this project blew my mind.

"Cape God" is the first project I hear from her and it is fabulous. The album has a cinematographic atmosphere that reminds me of the sound Lana del Rey had back in the day or Fleurie's; that's a compliment, tho. Even though I enjoy a lot this kind of sound, the album sounds a little bit monotonous to me. I don't know, maybe I need to listen to it once again. What I've enjoyed the most has been the lyrics. Allie's messages are smart and relatable and its production is exquisite. To sum up, I have enjoyed "Cape God" very much since it presents us a strong empowered woman who is not afraid to innovate and expose herself who is able to make a record filled with crying-dancy tracks. It that a thing? Well, now it is. I am grateful to have discovered this young and fresh promise of indie-pop-alternative music. I am looking forward to hearing what she has to offer us. I will definitely recommend it to all my friends!

I think some of y'all giving 10/10 need to come down to Earth a bit. There are quality pop songs on here. "Love Me Wrong" is an absolute 10/10 because of how hauntingly beautiful it is. Canada's most authentic yet unknown pop goddess, Allie X, produces YET another brilliantly dark and twisted album of radio-friendly goth pop bangers even if the tempo has downshifted. Fresh Laundry, Devil I know and Regulars, in particular, stand out as ear-worm inducing hits. Why she isn't as big as Gaga or T-Swift is beyond me...

Having collabs with other talented artists like Mitksi and Troye Sivan only help solidify this album as one of, if not the best album to come out this year. Songs like Life of the Party and June Gloom help radiate a desperate energy while remaining upbeat and a party song. The emo/goth vibes that come with Cape God to be perfectly paired with electro pop through each song also makes this a no-skip album to anyone listening a second time. Regulars and Devil I Know keep a brooding tone to keep the dark undertone of the entire album going while still remaining songs to dance to. This is the album that encapsulates the Northeast tone she set out for. This is the album that water would sound like if water could choose an album to represent. All in all, a perfect album that everyone should listen to, and a strong and early contender for an album of the year nomination. Expand

One of the most excellent pop releases I’ve heard in years. The lyrics are smart, specific, and relatable. The production is sumptuous. Fave tracks: Fresh Laundry, Regulars, June Gloom, Super Duper Party People, Susie Save Your Love

Allie X has always been in the background of my life and I’ve always unintentionally viewed her as a smaller, indie artist as well as one the geniuses behind some of Troye Sivan’s best works. It’s an arduous and difficult task to pick my favourite songs from the album because just the simple fact that the album is that good. The whole album is my favourite.

When Hughes tries out more rote pop songs, Cape God can get a little dry. ... Still, the sad world of Cape God is an alluring one, and Hughes’ vocal range is its unequivocal linchpin.

Allie X's debut, 2017's CollXtion II, was a fun, if simplistic outing, but Cape God is an album undeniably made by a woman truly forging her own path however she sees fit. Not to mention championing the wickedly bright future of avant-garde, ascendant music.
