'CAMILA' is a great debut album. Camila has a good voice, although the pitch correction is over the top in a few places. The instrumentation is awesome in 'She loves control', 'inside out' and 'Somethings gotta give'. Although in other parts the instrumentation has a rushed and flimsy sound to it.

Overall I really enjoyed this album. It is a debut album, with an artist who is still trying to find who they are but its surprisingly cohesive for a debut. The best thing it does is give me hopes for the future.

First let me start by saying that 'Camila' is a record much different than I expected from a girl group runaway, especially when considering the group in question is Fifth Harmony and she was effectively the lead vocalist/figure and not some fringe member. It's worth mentioning that I've got nothing against Camila or her former Fifth Harmony band sisters, but the brand of pop found inFirst let me start by saying that 'Camila' is a record much different than I expected from a girl group runaway, especially when considering the group in question is Fifth Harmony and she was effectively the lead vocalist/figure and not some fringe member. It's worth mentioning that I've got nothing against Camila or her former Fifth Harmony band sisters, but the brand of pop found in their albums is just not my style and beyond a quick listen here or there, there's never been much that resonated with me as particularly interesting or appealing. It's for these reasons that the lead single off this album, "Havana" and the content of the album itself really took me by surprise. Camila Cabello has earned the right to have "Former Fifth Harmony siren" dropped before her name, she is an artist in her own right and here's why.

Before I dive in I want to get some things out of the way, the production here is lean and understated outside of the two singles "Havana" and "Never Be The Same", and this works beautifully for some of the gorgeous ballads [yeah, there are balladS, plural, on a debut album from a popstar in 2018, nuts right?] but causes some of the closing tracks to fall a little flat. Additionally, the speed of the album is pretty even-keeled and I won't lie, while it's a short listen, tracks 6,7,8 can feel long; prepare to either fall into your feelings if like me you live for earnest writing and emotive vocal performances or slip into a soft slumber if you expected high-octane, radio-ready pop bangers--though I do advise you against this, you will miss out on some of the most poignant deep cuts from a young popstar in years.

That said, there's so much about this album that works--the Latin seasoning peppered through She Loves Control to Havana and sprinkled lightly on Inside Out, the charismatic and playful bounce of Camila's vocal delivery, ad libs and delicious cooing and of course, the spectacular writing for which Camila is credited on every single track along with a host of unusual co-writers [Amy Wadge?] outside of some flashy names [Justin Tranter, Ryan Tedder]. This isn't a perfect record by any means I could sit here and list a number of offenses from a technical standpoint [seriously, Camila powers this whole album virtually alone at times, what is with some of the production?] but I won't do that, what I will do is invite you to check out this heartwarming, tender and passionate debut and pay a close ear to the candidness she shares on virtually every song [even the lively Havana has the smoky line "Half of my heart is in Havana" which is an ode to her hometown, couple that with the fact Cuban-American relations aren't the best and she's not readily able to return and it's actually quite a poignant song]. In short, it sounds like Joni Mitchell and acoustic Shakira teamed up to put out an album.

However, there are two weak points in this record, for example, Havana is an annoying track without purpose inside of this world, the classic pop music with a rapper wasting time and ruining the whole performance just being in a verse. And Real Friends that tired me before the end. The basic beach sound in the background did not with the excellent performance from Camila.

In the end, 2018 started with a good record. Thank you Camila to have postponed this album.

Camila really is trying to put herself into this, and I think it bodes well for what we're going to get in the future. I see mixed reviews of some people wanting less ballads, but at the same time they want her to be different. Her having more ballads is where she IS different, this is where she is really telling us something, on those songs. And I think if people really listen to theCamila really is trying to put herself into this, and I think it bodes well for what we're going to get in the future. I see mixed reviews of some people wanting less ballads, but at the same time they want her to be different. Her having more ballads is where she IS different, this is where she is really telling us something, on those songs. And I think if people really listen to the lyrics, instead of just a cursory listen, you'll find that Camila could have very bright future indeed, she is turning into a good writer.

My biggest complaint is that at times I feel like there is too much auto-tuning. Camila's voice does not need this, at all, she is capable of producing that sound without help. I also would rather we'd gotten something other than a radio edit of Never Be The Same, perhaps the no rap version of Havana? I do understand the change in direction and some songs not being ready, as to why we don't have the song she did with Ed or Charlie XCX writing with her, and I look forward to what we get in the future.

The zero ratings are coming from mainly two places: people not voting right given what they wrote (positive notes, but bad score), and pressed fans from her former girl group. To give a zero to the album, as if it has absolutely nothing on it worth anyone's time, is petty and disingenuous, and just not true (most of them were bopping to Havana even if they don't want to admit it.)

Admittedly, this isn't for everyone, I wasn't even OPEN to pop music in general until I started listening to 5H and found something about them that spoke to me, in large part because of Camila's voice being so unique, and because they seemed to project this very positive girl empowerment theme. But I listen closer to what Camila is saying, not just the overall sound, and I'm finding music I can identify with, music I wish I'd had years ago.

Our Cuban fairy Camila did an awesome job dropping this amazing album. I love the way we can feel all of her emotions through these incredible songs. My favorites so far are Something's Gotta Give, She Loves Control, In The Dark and Consequences. So, this is one of the best album I've heard EVER!

A passionate, mature and relatable album. Camila shows us that she's not only a singer but also a songwriter. The songs are great and her voice is what shines the most. She is a star. I love it.

The first great release of pop music in 2018 is already between us. Coming from a troubled breakup of their former group "Fifth Harmony", many asked what Camila Cabello would be preparing for her solo debut and the response was not disappointing.
After a series of promotional singles and a makeover, Cabello finally managed to deliver her debut album, formerly known as "The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving". The self-titled "Camila" already holds the historic record for debut album with more # 1 on iTunes around the world and owner of the hit "Havana" which is already in the five weeks in second place on American Billboard. The album, released under the Epic label, has its own compositions and one of its main collaborators, Frank Dukes, is one of the big names in the American Hip Hop industry.
Marked by the sensitivity and the cohesive form in which the work presents itself, the album follows between ballads and songs with great potential of hit. The first track "Never Be The Same", delivered during the pre-sale of the album, is the exact synthesis of what Camila can offer. "All These Years" is light, despite being one of the most personal of the album, does not present an exceptional performance beyond the sweet vocals of Hair. The sequel follows with "She Loves Control", "Havana" and "Inside Out", the most radiophonic part of the album and tempered with Latin rhythms, basically a junction of everything that is currently successful. The album slows down with "Consequences" where a piano solo is enough for Camila and her vocals again are in absolute focus. "Real Friends" repeats the same formula used in "All These Years" and could easily be sung by Selena Gomez. "Something's Gotta Give," another great ballad, must be remembered for the way Camila exposes her fragile side without sounding weak. And finally, "In The Dark" and "Into It" conclude the album in a charismatic and confident way.
The album has a great commercial appeal and perhaps its biggest defect is the lack of boldness and creativity taking into account the fact that Camila follows the whole time by the easy way and by models already ready, but that does not mean that the work is bad and does not deserve to be heard, for a debut, Camila delivered something satisfactory and certainly deserves praise for it.

You can feel the rawness, the pain, the tears, the breath. You want to cry, dance, shout and laugh at the same time. Like my friend Melissa said: "THIS ALBUM IS A TRUE EXPOSE IN VOCAL MASTERY!! HER VOICE IS GLORIOUS!".
A great debut album!! Proud is an understatement.

Camila is an excellent album which represents Cabello's latin origins very preciously, besides the fact that her voice is memorable and unforgettable. She has definitely shown the best of her potential when she left Fifth Harmony.

on and all, for a debut album camila really did the damn thing, she had 100 countries have her album go #1, joining the likes of ed sheeran, beyonce, taylor swift, and more. that is absolutely amazing, since it's her debut album. the album was also critically acclaimed, as you can see by looking at the other reviews by the critics.

if you want something to make you feel, i 100% think you should give it a listen, you won't be disappointed!

Terrible Album.... almost all of her songs are samples and sound like other songs. Some artists that were copied were Lorde, Christina Aguilera, Ed Sheeran, Sia and many more. Why can't she write her own music for once.

I was expecting more from Camila's album. compare to her former Groups album this is a disaster. Fifth Harmony by Fifth Harmony had soul and R&b influences alongside edm and pop sounds. Camila by Camila Cabello doesn't have a distinct sound. All of her tracks sound the same, besides Havana. I'm really disappointed with this album, I was expecting much more from her and her team.

Felicidades y gracias Camila, tu trabajo y pasión por la música se refleja en este álbum debut, espero mucho de esa chica y luego de escuchar esta pieza maestra estoy segura me seguirá sorprendiendo.

“Never Be the Same” proves that Cabello doesn’t need a mammoth voice. The love-is-a-drug lyric she’s singing is dumb, but she sells it so joyfully that you don’t even notice, and its wonderfully breathy, high-register hook ensures “Havana” won’t be her last solo hit.

While Cabello stands out on the more fiery tracks, she also shines in subtlety.
