    'Britney Jean' isn't what I really hoped it would be. As a huge fan of hers I only got a modernized version of her 2003 effort 'In the Zone'. It's a good album but not the promised 'Blackout 2' and it isn't that personal compared to other current albums. It's starts off quite good. Alien is a reminder of what William Orbit gave Madonna in 1998: a haunting melody, lyrics which indicates the'Britney Jean' isn't what I really hoped it would be. It's a good album but not the promised 'Blackout 2' and it isn't that personal compared to other current albums. It's starts off quite good. Alien is a reminder of what William Orbit gave Madonna in 1998: a haunting melody, lyrics which indicates the vulnerability of an artist, the feeling of being alone in a huge crowd. Artisticly seen, it's the best song on the album. Work Perfume and It Should Be Easy are also good songs but they sound overproduced at some parts (especially It Should Be Easy) or the lyrics are lackluster (like in Perfume). Tik Tik Boom is in my opinion a complete disaster, it sounds like something Kesha would sing. Body Ache and Til It's Gone are perfect single material. The intro of Passenger doesn't really fit into the rest of the song but the actual song fits quite good into the 'personal' concept of the album. Chillin' with You came as a big surprise to me. I didn't liked the song at first but after hearing it for several times I started to like it (although I have the feeling it was a rejected song from the Smurfs 2 soundtrack). Don't Cry, Brightest Morning Star, Hold On Tight and Now That I Found You are no extraordinary songs, partially they sound a bit too familiar to other songs but they perfectly fit into the 'personal' concept as well. The 'Dreaming Mix' of Perfume is in my opinion the better version and should have been released as a single. All in all, it's a good album but I feel a bit disappointed. I really hope that the next record is gonna be completely produced (and written) by William Orbit because Alien is the perfect song for Britney in her 30's! Expand

    People really think that "personal album" is just delivery of histories chewed in the form of music.
    Britney innovated again, the album has great lyrics. Work for example, has a message behind all the heavy instrumental. Listen the musics and interpret the lyrics. Do not be a common literate who isn't able of understand the messages of this great album.

    'Britney Jean' is a tuff, tuff album to honestly review. As a fan, I love the concept she went for here. I love that she's trying to get more personal, and change up her process a bit, because let's face it... her last two albums, she's just been on autopilot. 2008's 'Circus' marked a welcome return for Britney, and on the heels of 'Womanizer' topping the charts around the globe, the album'Britney Jean' is a tuff, tuff album to honestly review. As a fan, I love the concept she went for here. I love that she's trying to get more personal, and change up her process a bit, because let's face it... her last two albums, she's just been on autopilot. 2008's 'Circus' marked a welcome return for Britney, and on the heels of 'Womanizer' topping the charts around the globe, the album was a huge success. But let's be honest... as a record, it was all over the place. Had it stopped about 10 tracks in, you might have had a cohesive set, which lyrically synced up nicely to the title. BUT, at 13 tracks... it got a little bloated and stale towards the end. 2011's 'Femme Fatale' was a phenomenal dance record, chalk full of potential hits. 'Hold It Against Me' was the perfect Britney Spears track throwing out that inescapable dance vibe, with a killer lyrical hook that led it straight to #1. The only bummer AGAIN with 'Femme Fatale' though was that there wasn't a trace of Britney on it. Every song was handcrafted by a hit maker, and overall the album is a bit immature coming from a 30 year old mother of 2.

    Enter 'Britney Jean'. Clearly bored with the pop music scene, and wanting to take a bit more control, it's clear Britney definitely put quite a bit more effort into this disc then the last 2. 'Britney Jean' comes in at 10 tracks, a much shorter set than her previous 2, and the title is a great reflection of the disc. Though the "personal" content might not be all we'd hoped for, it's definitely much more input than we've gotten from Britney in years. What makes this record such a huge letdown though?? The ever present plague that is will.i.am.

    Will may make catchy music for radio, but has anyone noticed that he can't sell it to save his soul? Without Fergie and the Peas, Will's #willpower has utterly tanked. I fear the same is in store for Britney. While songs like 'It Should Be Easy', 'Work B***h', and 'Tik Tik Boom' are fun, will's production is immature and stuck two years ago in the club. He fails to really capture and release Britney's personality as it is TODAY.

    'Britney Jean' isn't without it's highlights though, and it's because of those highlights that I give it a 7 out of 10. I feel this album was a completely different direction for Britney than her past 2, and i'll give her the credit she's due. William Orbit kicks off the set with 'Alien', the sobering mid tempo where Britney sings about feeling alienated and alone, and finding the light in another's eyes. The lyrics are simple and beautiful, and the track is an honest reflection of Britney's turbulent breakdown and essential rebirth. I feel Orbit did a much better job capturing a piece of Britney. In addition, the Katy Perry and Sia penned 'Passenger' is a standout that finds Britney singing about letting go of her control and falling in love. It's a unique sound for Brit, and a complete right turn off the road of her previous music. 'Chillin With You' brings some more personal input, as well as the disc's closing ballad 'Don't Cry'.

    Throw some classic Britney in the form of standouts 'Body Ache' and 'Till It's Gone', and you've definitely got a decent evolution. The only bummer with this album is that it doesn't complete the evolution of Britney Spears. 'Britney Jean' should've been her 'Ray of Light'.... instead it heads in the right direction in spots, while desperately clinging to the club in others that makes the album sound in cohesive, and Britney still slightly lost.

    It's a Great album, with great songs. The Album works like a roller-coaster, what sounds amazing when you are hearing it on your iPod. Britney shows that you can do up-tempo songs with personal lyrics and emotion, like we can clearly see on Til' it's Gone, her best track since Toxic. The best vocal in the CD is Don't Cry, that reminds us a lot of her 2nd studio album, Oops I Did It Again.

I thunk it's a great pop record and i feel underwhelmed by critical response, but yet again that's not surprising. Britney has always been snobbed. People by mistake think that if she's not stealing writing credits (aka Beyonce) and not screaming about a great album message (aka Gaga) she's less artist. That's wrong. Most people have no idea that behind ALL the creativeness (whether it's Baby One More Time legendary outfit or Blackout music masterpiece) she's the one who call the shots. If album like this was released by Gaga critics will praise the hell out of it. Sadly only fans can understand true beauty of what's Britney Spears doing. But that's not gonna last forever. They complete the album, and make the listening experience significantly more enjoyable. That being said "Britney Jean", the 8th studio album from pop music legend Britney Spears, is a beautiful one. It's light-hearted, and fun. Britney marketed this as her "most personal album yet", and that is exactly what she delivered.

    The album opens with "Alien", a track about feeling alone and isolated with pulsating trance beats in the background. It's definitely one of the album's highlights. (Even if the demo was better) This is followed by "Work the lead single of the album and an EDM orgasm. Britney commands the listener to work if they want to enjoy all the fine things life has to offer. It's one of my personal favorites. Perfume, the second single and a gorgeous power ballad follows. Britney gives one of her best vocal performances since her early work. However, this track should've been towards the end of the album, because primary tracks of Britney Jean are more dance-oriented, and Perfume ruins that flow. Next is "It Should Be Easy", a track that features executive producer will.i.am. And although the track relies heavily on robotic vocals and dance beat, it's still rather enjoyable. The robotic vocals compliment the song, and somehow it works. We then get the T.I. collaboration "Tik Tik Boom", an urban influenced dance track that has Britney cooing about her sex needs. It's reminiscent of "I'm a Slave 4 U". This is then followed by "Body Ache", the complex sister of "Scream & Shout". It's your standard EDM track, not groundbreaking but it will get your blood flowing and your feet moving. Next we have "Til It's Gone", and EDM/dubstep track that isn't about clubbing or dancing provocatively but about losing someone and not realizing how much they meant until their gone. This concludes the dance-oriented portion of Britney Jean.

    "Passenger" opens the next chapter in the book of Britney Jean. It's a pop/rock track about letting go of the keys and letting someone else take the lead. It's taking a leap of faith, despite the risk of falling. It's also one of Britney's best vocal performances on the album. This is followed by "Chillin' With You", a collaboration with younger sister Jamie Lynn. It's a feel good anthem about being with the people you love and not having a care in the world. It's a strange track, but enjoyable nonetheless. "Don't Cry" concludes the standard edition of Britney Jean. It's reminiscent of something off 2001's "Britney".

    This first deluxe track we get is "Brightest Morning Star", a song about her boys and how even at her darkest moments, they still make her world bright. Possibly one of the most personal songs off the album. "Hold On Tight" is about being away from home and wanting to be with one's significant other. A beautiful and whimsical track. Next we have "Now That I Found You", a song about about rediscovering ones faith. It's an electro-ballad, that's chorus makes you want to just dance and sing. It's another feel good track off the album. The album concludes with "Perfume (The Dreaming Mix)", a raw and darker version of the album's second single.

    In all Britney Jean is all about having fun and feeling good. It's not her most groundbreaking album but it's still a strong pop album that is extremely enjoyable. The album is diverse, and mature, unlike her last effort "Femme Fatale". Critics might say that after the conclusion of "Britney Jean", we don't know really know Britney and I'd have to disagree with that. After the conclusion of Britney Jean, I realized Britney is just like any other woman, and that's how she wants to be seen. She feels lonely and insecure sometimes, she likes to have fun and feel good. She doesn't want her past struggles to define her. She's just a simple Louisiana girl. And for me, this makes the album more endearing. Britney Jean Spears maybe one of the world's biggest stars, but at the end of the day she's just like any of us.

Parabéns Britney, rainha do pop.

    I loved the album because it has more calm and sensitive songs than Femme Fatale. It sounds like In The Zone or Blackout. My favorite songs are Alien, Passenger, That I found You...
    I won't say she is back, because first she never left. And each era has its own unique thing.

    It's amazing how much this album captures the essense of britney. She is amazing, and i love this album!
    I think britney is a very underrated artist, and the fact she has wrote on every single song on this album, and has continued to express how personal it is to her, it's clear she has put alot of work into this album!

    This album is surprisingly full of dance pop tracks which is unexpected as she stated that this album was the most personal album yet. Most of the songs are impersonal and shows a lack of personality. I still like some of the songs as some songs are worth listening to. Overall, my excitement was ruined when listening to the album and I think she uses T.I. & Jamie Lynn's support to hide the fact that this album is just average. I am 50/50 about this album but I don't think Britney has shown her real personality yet. People are just giving this album five stars just because they like Britney personally. I really had high hopes for this album but this album doesn't even meet expectations of other average albums like 'ARTPOP' or 'PRISM'. Britney is slipping but I do praise her for the amount of input she had on this album. I just think this album was a little rushed and fails to show Britney's potential. I'm not sure how you will feel when buying this album but it's your opinion that matters. Just remember that Britney Spears' album was slammed by critics.
    On a high side, The highlights were Alien, Work B**ch, Passenger & Now That I Found You. Alien was really unique and was nothing like I ever heard before. The songs I enjoyed the most were Passenger & Now That I Found You (which are on loop on my phone) as I praise the song instrumentally and lyrically.
    I'm being quite generous of my rating on this album as I think this album deserves an overall rate of 50%. But this album does match Britney's personality and is not that personal at all. Next time Britney, tell will.i.am to stay far away from your music as possible in the future (he is the one to blame!!!!)

Seguem comentários track by track...

    1 Alien A versão demo, por incrível que pareça, melhor. Não sei porque mexeram nas notas de alguns trechos, pois fez soar estranho. A faixa, em si, tem uma levada muito gostosa, um tom introspectivo. Mas, no todo, extremamente enfadonha e sem grandes atrativos. Acho que demorarei a gostar realmente dessa música;
    2 Work EDM PERFEITA, SIMPLESMENTE PERFEITA! Melhor lead single não haveria pra esse cd;
    3 Perfume Que posso dizer??? Não a balada perfeita, mas uma perfeita balada da Britney. O instrumental fenomenal e, por vezes, soa grandioso, mas sem encobrir demais a voz suave da Britney;
    4 It Should Be Easy Acho que essa faixa tem Will.I.Am demais... Esse o seu defeito;
    5 Tik Tik Boom pop, twerk, modinha, engraçada, grudenta...;
    6 Body Ache bem produzida, mas falta alguma coisa... um bridge bombástico;
    7 Til It's Gone Se com Work a EDM soa quase crua, nessa faixa o pop se mostra bem mais presente em estrofes mais melódicas;
    8 Passenger Uma de minhas favoritas... Os vocais da Britney estão ótimos nessa faixa: a crescente de notas que ela faz a partir de 1m53s fenomenal. E o mais interessante que as sutis variações melódicas, prévias a cada repetição do refrão, faz essa música ganhar vários ápices que não a deixa, em nenhum momento, cansativa;
    9 Chillin' With You Detestei! E só ganhou uma estrela porque o refrão ótimo, nem parece ser dessa péssima música;
    10 Don't Cry Talvez escutando outras vezes, eu venha a gostar mais dessa música. Gostei da melodia, mas não curti a produção. Enfim, uma das mais fracas do cd;
    11 Brightest Morning Star Essa faixa tem um clima gospel que me agrada muito, principalmente no refrão. Além do mais, me lembra muito, só que com uma pegada bem mais atual, as músicas dos primeiros cd's da Britney;
    12 Hold On Tight Grandiosa. Introspectiva. Que produção! Não entendo como uma faixa tão tão tão boa não está na track principal. Ainda mais quando temos aquele feat. pavoroso na faixa 9;
    13 Now That I Found You Essa uma faixa que "parece mas não No início, parece ser uma midtempo, mas ela pipoca no refrão. Que bridge esse? FODA!;
    14 Perfume (The Dreaming Mix) Essa mixagem deu um clima mais introspectivo a música. Os violões no refrão ficarão ótimos!

"Britney Jean", though, was supposed to be one of her most personal albums ever, but we can't actually find plenty of this personal data here. With 10 tracks the standard one we have to struggle to find two or maybe three tracks that we can relate to Britney; the other ones sounds like a clichè teenager after a breakup. It's quite sad when we see hardcore fans saying that this is exactly what they expected as "personal". This just represents 1% of all life experience of Britney. It's such a shame that the whole album promo was based on a "lie". "Britney Jean", nevertheless, is a good pop album, definitely not the best of 2013, but it gives us some new Britney's records after years of waiting. For now, that's enough. Expand

    Incredibly, the album is really personal. The opening track "Alien" finds her crying at times she felt alone. "Perfume", "Till It's Gone" are deep as well. "Passenger" would be the PERFECT lead single, she hits notes no one would imagine and it is how pop-rock songs should be made.

"It Should Be Easy (feat. Will.I.am)" Definitivamente a melhor coisa dessa música é o instrumental. "Tik Tik Boom (feat. T.I)" ótima, merece Twerk, merece ser single. "Body Ache", "Chillin' With You (feat. Jamie)" e "Til It's Gone" Meia Boca, a melhor chega a ser Til It's Gone. "Passenger" pra mim é uma das melhores músicas que deve ser single, e que deveria ter sido o segundo, substituindo Perfume. A introdução de "Don't Cry", a melhor faixa do álbum é perfeita, apesar de que deveria ter sido acrescentados mais alguns vocais da Princesa do Pop. Hold on Tight, Brightest Morning Star e Now That I Found You são boas, porém mereciam estar no Britney Jean, e não no Deluxe.

    I felt that although Work **** and Perfume are the standout tracks/singles, I don't feel the effort put in by her. Honestly I think this is her laziest album - she does not focus on her range and power in her vocals. The rest of her songs are poor, average at best, for example, Now that I found you' is slightly average, other than these three songs, the rest are either average or terrible.

    There is no effort applied to this album. You can grab some good moments on the first three tracks of the album, but the rest is just lame. Most of the songs are upbeat electronic with no heart, with so much autotune that what was supposed to be a personal material, it turns out as a robotic mechanical thing which did not work. The only highlight of the album is Don't Cry.

If you're a fan, I implore you to never, ever listen to this album. It will lower your respect for Britney as an artist, and as a fan of 20 years, that was a depressing reality to come to terms with. Further, the record contains the worst song Britney has recorded in the entirety of her career (i.e., "Chillin' With You"). It's embarrassingly bad, and would've been immature even if released two decades prior on her debut album.

    The only redeemable songs are "Hold On Tight," (which was apparently the first song Britney recorded for this record, and therefore reflective of the original direction she intended to go with the record), as well as "Don't Cry." None of the other tracks sound even remotely like Britney, with the exception of "Perfume"; however, the cringeworthy lyrics ultimately ruin that one as well (i.e., "I'm gonna mark my territory.") Really, Brit? Are you now peeing on your man's belongings in an attempt to keep his hypothetically attracted potential mates at large? Yikes. Suffice it to say, this album was a huge mistake overall and a stain on her otherwise flawless discography of pop hits.

    If you are craving relatively new B music, do yourself a favor and listen to the exponentially superior "Glory."

Do they only stand out because the others are so bad? I'll let you be the judge of that. Expand

    I'm really sorry, but this is such a horrible album. There is no song that really stand out. Almost all of them are mediocre and terrible. Very weak album.

    Not personal, not club-friendly, not any good. It's her worst by far and there's no sugarcoating it. On top of that, the vocals are not Britney. 100% not. According to Britney Spears, her eponymous eighth studio album has been described as being both “personal” and a sequel to 2007’s Blackout; it’s one of the only LPs in her discography where Spears is credited as a co-writer on more than a handful of tracks and it supposedly revolves around her 2013 split from her ex-fiancé. But coincidentally, it’s probably her most celluloid musical statement to date and one of her worst written; it dulls in comparison to the fellow female pop singers who were already making a buzz in 2013—Beyoncé surprise released her self-titled LP to critical acclaim, Lorde challenged the status quo on one of the year’s biggest hits, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga released new albums, hell, even Miley Cyrus turned heads with her twerking VMA performance and even enjoyed some success with her own singles. But even Spears didn’t seem too enthralled by her own co-creation by its release date because she gave it little to no promotion—Beyoncé has already succeeded Spears in pulling off promotional stunts like this because not only did her product become commercially and critically consumable in the end, she’s simply a better musician nowadays, succeeding Spears at numerous achievements within her decade-plus career.

    For Britney Jean, Spears assigned the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am—who makes an extraordinarily unextraordinary appearance on “It Should Be Easy” since ANY product he’s involved in must include more than co-producer credit—as a curator of her “personal” sound, exchanging her longtime collaborators Max Martin and Dr. Luke in for shallow EDM “drops” courtesy of him and accompanying co-producers such as the equally unextraordinary David Guetta. At least Max Martin and Dr. Luke, albeit one-dimensional, knew how to make a mountain out of a mole hill in terms of turning minimal melodies into epic generation-defining euphoria—Spears’ own Femme Fatale exhibited similar EDM influences in 2011, it could create electronic landscapes out of relatively simple contemporary pop tropes, such as the dance-pop anthem “Till the World Ends”, Spears’ best song in years. But whereas Femme Fatale and even 2007’s Blackout stood slightly ahead of the trend, will.i.am keeps Spears safely in the middle of the stream and maybe even behind the rest of the pack.

    The lead single, “Work **** embarrassingly emulates—and appropriates—‘80s black vogue culture, which could be called out as a desperate attempt at baiting and cashing in on her dedicated LGBTQ+ fan base, in a decade where civil rights regarding sexual orientation and gender identity have become far more relevant than the stereotypes society continuously associated with their community. But it’s much more exhilarating than the rest of Britney Jean, which trails between bland and absolutely terrible. The second single, “Perfume”, co-penned by Sia, nudges Spears back into her early teen-pop balladry and also has the laughable line “I’m gonna mark my territory,” as if it’s an appropriate metaphor to define making sure you stamp your identity on your romantic partner as a dog urinating on a fire hydrant. The T.I.-featured “Tik Tik Boom” compares sexual climaxing to a time-bomb explosion in an awkwardly childish manner; T.I. returns to his signature sexism from that year’s “Blurred Lines” with cringeworthy lines of his own (“She like the way I eat her, beat her, beat her/Treat her like an animal, somebody call PETA”).

    Britney Jean is actually a kaleidoscope of idiotic imagery curated by Spears and co.’s second-grade songwriting: “If there was a scale from 1 to 10 then my love for you is a million billion,” Spears sings in one of her most headache-inducing vocal effects yet. But even when the lyrics aren’t bombing catastrophically, they’re cliché as all hell. The chorus on “’Til It’s Gone” dramatically chants “You never what you got ‘til it’s gone,” as if it hasn’t been said billions of time before under much better circumstances—“’Til It’s Gone” even copies the stuttering hook of Femme Fatale’s “I Wanna Go” in an act of filling out a pre-chorus. The only standout track on Britney Jean is the Diplo produced “Passenger”, which was initially meant to be on Katy Perry’s Prism and probably would’ve been that album’s highlight. The lyrics definitely suit a female pop star at Spears’ velocity that has been in control for so long, the comfort of allowing a romantic partner to take the wheel is actually kind of endearing. But not only did Spears’ vocals require an overwhelming amount of Auto-Tune to sing, it’s a contradiction for her as well, since Spears has practically been a passenger throughout her career, allowing writers, producers, and record companies to guide her through every shift and turn. But despite leaving a significant mark all over pop music throughout the early millennium, Britney Jean is evidence that maybe she's falling from relevancy, publicly and musically.

Enfim so salvaria Alien e Don't Cry o resto é demo.

    "Britney Jean" was one of the most highly anticipated albums in 2013. Britney called it her most personal album ever, and that's exactly what it was: it was personal.

    I love "Alien," a midtempo track about feeling like an outcast, like an alien, and about finding her place in her world, where she belongs. "Work B**ch" is a banger, yes, but it is personal, too; Britney worked hard to get where she is now. "Perfume," though the whole "mark my territory" part is questionable, is about jealousy, about her feeling paranoid that her boyfriend is cheating on her, and obviously, Britney has been in this situation before. I would've loved "It Should Be Easy" much, much better if Britney had taken another approach with it; the production could've been handled better - like less robotic effects on her voice, maybe a more stripped-back production overall, and more revising of the lyrical content. Don't get me wrong: I like "Tik Tik Boom"; the production is well-done, and it showcases Britney's vocal ability, but it doesn't feel like it belongs here, like it would be more fitting for, I don't know, a separate E.P. entitled "Blackout 2.0." "Body Ache" doesn't belong here, either, and I feel like it could've been made available through a different means, unrelated to this album. "Til It's Gone" is an upbeat, emotional track, which displays a personal side to Britney, while allowing anyone to dance to it, as well. "Passenger," one of my personal favourites, has an amazing production, the most unique out of the rest of the album, and those vocals . . . whoa! Britney blew me away! "Chillin' With You," though a soothing, relaxing song, wasn't a favourite, but it still fits with the personal vibe. And "Don't Cry" reminds me of Britney Spears' earlier content, and her vocals are the most natural, the most raw here. "Brightest Morning Star" is a beautiful, uplifting track, which is either about her two sons or God. "Hold On Tight" is another personal favourite, and it is one of the songs I most relate to; her vocals are amazing, filled with emotion, which is pretty powerful. "Now That I Found You" is just as relatable and just as amazing. And I loved the stripped-down version of "Perfume," which ends the deluxe edition. Overall, I loved Britney Jean!

    I can consider this one of Britney's best albums, it really has bangers that weren't used like they deserved. Vocal showcase in songs like Passenger, Perfume or Don't Cry show that Britney still have it. It also has dope beats in tracks like Work B**ch!, Tik Tik Boom, Til It's Gone and It Should Be Easy. This is actually a valuable jewel.

    Another absolutely brilliant Britney album. Backed up by masters of electronica David Guetta, Diplo and Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso, they all make sure to drop a storm of ugly, trite and utterly soulless EDM breakdowns and dubstep drops whenever they can.
