This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Boring beat. No emotion and really weak lyrics, every song is a boring overproduced mess of generic pop Expand

Just feel let down. Ellie Goulding is normally really good at hitting you with songs that are fresh and interesting. A lot of these songs sound really similar with not a lot happening in terms of melody, as well as none of these truly making full use of her unique vocals. Feels like there were no risks taken and nothing really invokes any real emotion. Any kind of soulful acoustic soundingJust feel let down. Any kind of soulful acoustic sounding song she does on here is literally done a million times better on previous albums.
Also, some tracks are only a minute long And I seriously question why they’re included.

She really did try but unfortunately due to her limited range even her extremes are extremely mediocre

Brightest Blue's main disc is Goulding's deepest emotional journey yet, a triumph of empowerment and self-discovery.

While Blue is thoughtful and beautiful, it’s a drag to sit through. The interludes have more personality than the full-length songs.

For the most part, she doesn’t have the chops or soul of contemporaries like Florence Welch, who sings of similar subject matter with a real torch, and who shares a collaborator in Joseph Kearns, who produced almost every song on Brightest Blue. At Kearns’s behest, the album takes a relatively new tack for Goulding, trading the garish for the palatable, but it’s no less grating as a result.
