Lana manages to reinvent herself again and bring back features from her previous albums with new ideas. Dealer is without a doubt one of the most controversial and if not the best music by the Blue Banisters.

One of her best albums. Dealer, living legends and black bathing suit, I think are the best tracks from the album.

Lana del Rey is God; Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.

LDR fans will likely find lots to love on "Blue Banisters," as Lana's soaring vocals and melancholic lyrical musings remain as stellar as ever, but newcomers/general listeners may find their patience tested by instrumentals so stripped-back they're nearly non-existent as well as the nigh-comatose pacing of the album's first half before it truly springs to life in the second.

A very personal, intimate, beautifully crafted masterpiece which make take a bit of time to sink in due to its more varied melodies and sounds, maybe not as cohesive as all of her other albums (which is not a bad thing and still manages to work perfectly), however after a few listens can definitely become a favorite. Super recommended.

Probably her best album yet. The most mature, artistic, and complicated Lana's music. Great lyrics, vocals and music production!

Alright, I just went through my first couple listens, and these are my thoughts. First of all, there's something about the conveyance that I'm not 100% sure about. Let's use "Beautiful" as an example. Like she literally served us an amazing lyric referencing Picasso's blue period and NFR, but then its just "Beautiful, beautiful / Beautiful like you" in the same tone as the rest of theAlright, I just went through my first couple listens, and these are my thoughts. First of all, there's something about the conveyance that I'm not 100% sure about. Let's use "Beautiful" as an example. Like she literally served us an amazing lyric referencing Picasso's blue period and NFR, but then its just "Beautiful, beautiful / Beautiful like you" in the same tone as the rest of the song. Like I just want her to go swooning in there "Shades of Cool" style and DELIVER that chorus. Just a little bit harder on the vocals in certain areas of the verses/choruses and I feel like it could have made a bigger impact on a lot of the tracks. I still love "Beautiful" nonetheless, and I hope this makes sense.

Now. My two absolute favorite things about this album are its vocal layering and melodies. This is usually one of the biggest reasons I love Lana, but there's something about this album that is just especially enthralling in this regard. These elements are what make my favorite songs off Blue Banisters, including "Violets for Roses," and "Black Bathing Suit." I'm not sure how she did it, or ever does it, but she ate and left no crumbs in this department. "Thunder" is certainly a standout track as well imo, which was a pleasant surprise considering I wasn't a huge fan of the demo version. Prior to the album's release, I pretty much never listened to the first three singles (nor did I respect them as I should've), but I revisited them this morning and dayum. I'm still not feeling the title track entirely, but I suddenly adore "Text Book" and "Wildflower." Again, the melodies are just *chef's kiss*.

    Arcadia doesn't need an explanation.

To continue, I know I said that her vocal technique needed to be pushed further in certain areas a second ago, but it must also be mentioned that she took many risks, especially with "Dealer." We've never heard our girl sound like this before, and even if you don't enjoy it, you must respect her for trying something new.

Also, I know its not a *Lana* song, but "The Trio" interlude is everything! I honestly kind of wish she would have included more influence from that sound, at least a little bit, but then again, I've always had a burning desire to hear that from her. Some people want Californian Lana, I want Blondie Del Rey and El Mariachi LOL. Don't know why.

This isn't my favorite Lana Del Rey album, but I'm already bonding with quite a few of the songs. To be fair though, I don't think she could beat Norman Rockwell in my mind, nor could I get the same feeling I did when I listened to "Cinnamon Girl" for the first time, ever again. Right now I'd say its coinciding with Honeymoon and Lust for Life, maybe a tad higher. I certainly love this one more than Chemtrails Over the Country Club, which I still haven't grown attached to and only listen to "Yosemite" on occasion. (I'm sure I'll regret that notion someday, when I finally fall in love with it) Overall, this is certainly an amazing listen for both old and new Lana fans, and doesn't contain a single skip.

Instant favorites: "Arcadia," "Interlude - The Trio," "Black Bathing Suit," "Thunder"
Quickly falling in love with: "Text Book," "If You Lie Down With Me," "Violets for Roses," "Wildflower Wildfire," "Nectar of the Gods"
Least favorites: None really, but "Cherry Blossom" atm, if I had to pick. (Gorgeous, just underwhelming)

Edit 10/23: Okay, I bumped up my rating to an 8 and Violets for Roses is officially a fave. I'd also say its solidly above Honeymoon (The Blackest Day is still queen though). Pretty sure BB is going to 100% beat out LFL by tomorrow.

This album is so sensitive in so many ways but also honest and raw in some aspects, this Lana’s work is a perfect combination of guns and flowers in poetry music.

While the days of Born to Die have long since passed, Lana Del Rey is still seeking paradise, closer now than ever as she turns her search inward, seemingly recognizing that paradise is ultimately found within the best of oneself. Still, if there is indeed a physical Arcadia to be revealed, it has not emerged in its entirety on Blue Banisters. That said, its intoxicating hints are enough to keep seekers thirsty.
