Lana's new album captures the ddecadence of america, bring us the nihilist and "thanatos" feels, masterpiece for sure, only a poet like her can do it! She is the only serious american singer on the trend's. The lyrics express the immanence of her spirit, a musical spirit. The album is one music take divided in several nuances that captures the 'geist' of this century ─ zeitgeist.

Very raw and vulnerable. Her vocals are the highlight of this album. Dealer and Thunder being the best tracks features her vocal prowess. Her ongwriting is straight up poetry. This is the best album of 2021! She just earned her second Album of the Year after Chemtrails. No one's doing it like Lana!

Este album es arte. Juega con el pasado y el presente, retomando nada más y nada menos que una Lizzy Grant que entona melodías hacia hoy, con una Lana Del Rey más madura.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. “All roads that lead to you as integral to me as arteries, that pump the blood that flows straight to the heart of me America.” Lana sings in the third song, “Arcadia,” off of possibly her most important album, “Blue Banisters.” This track highlights one of two key themes from this album. She has always wrote about America, and it’s importance to her. While this track highlights this overarching theme, it also criticizes it, because like the blood in our arteries, we are completely reliant on it. Many people woud like to get rid of their blood. So who’s to say that Lana wouldn’t want to do the same with america? So why does this make it such a great album? Well I think this album does two things, I think this album makes a reflexive criticism of herself, and secondly I think this album points out why some critics and criticisms are unfair. We already explored her reflexivity criticism in, “Arcadia.” However it came from her, and I think the most important criticism comes from within, sure, you can get the spark to change from others, but really changing oneself on the inside is always a personal choice. Which I think brings me to my next point. Validity of criticism comes from within. You decide whether the criticism is valid to you, individuals decide if the criticism garnered at them is valid. Whether this is expressed in the same manner differs, some may get defensive, or project. But this all highlights a telling aspect, that on the inside, most of the time, we know if what we’re doing is harmful. I believe Lana highlights this belief best in her seventh song off Blue Banisters, “Beautiful.” One of the largest of many criticisms coming from news articles expressing disingenuous takes and hot topics criticizes Lana for being too sad. Over the years she has been given the criticism of following the “Sad Girl,” trope, she even sings about this in the song titled the same off of her third studio album, “Ultraviolence.” She counters this argument when she sings, “What if someone had asked Picasso not to be sad? Never known who he was or the man he’d become. There would be no blue period.” Before I continue, I think her example may also highlight misogyny in media and in her criticisms, because even though Picasso paints sad, somber paintings, he has never been criticized for being too sad. She sings that she cannot tell her story without being sad, to tell her story without being sad would be to not tell her story at all. Lana paints out an ever-extending landscape of pro/anti- Americana in her eighth studio album, “Blue Banisters.” The lyrics in the 15 songs tell a story and answer questions we’ve all yearned to ask of her and of society. So what should this album do for us, how does the message of this album convince us to do something? This album tells us to be weary of criticism from parties suspect of leveling criticism for motives beyond criticism, it also tells us to criticize are selves, and at the same time, be comfortable in our current existence, even if it isn’t our end goal. You don’t have to hate yourself to change. Expand

i’m not going to lie, i was a bit concerned about this album before hearing it. the singles were good, but none of them had THAT spark that is so classically lana. however the album as a whole did not let me down. it is the first work of lana’s that i loved upon first listen. it made me bawl my eyes out, it made me laugh, it gave me chills and most importantly made me feel like i’mi’m not going to lie, i was a bit concerned about this album before hearing it. the singles were good, but none of them had THAT spark that is so classically lana. however the album as a whole did not let me down. it is the first work of lana’s that i loved upon first listen. it made me bawl my eyes out, it made me laugh, it gave me chills and most importantly made me feel like i’m ascending. the production has the simplistic piano lana has been going for lately however it had something more on almost every song so it was enjoyable. the lyrics are amazing but what’s new? overall this album is one of lana’s best work and definitely up there in my favorites. she did great! While the days of Born to Die have long since passed, Lana Del Rey is still seeking paradise, closer now than ever as she turns her search inward, seemingly recognizing that paradise is ultimately found within the best of oneself. Still, if there is indeed a physical Arcadia to be revealed, it has not emerged in its entirety on Blue Banisters. That said, its intoxicating hints are enough to keep seekers thirsty.
