Atomos is an outstanding, thoughtful piece of work which should see their reputation rise to a new high.

This is a slow-burning, deeply resonant collection with a stirring potency and the capacity to truly wow.

It's a strange and beautiful album, one that's hard to turn away from. [Nov 2014, p.102]

The beauty of this record lies primarily in its poise and composure; that it sounds fantastic, at times, just feels like an added bonus.

Despite their new compositional brief, A Winged Victory for the Sullen’s music is still, at its core, just a beautiful example of orchestral ambient music, in the most Eno-est sense of the word: music that you simply join and leave, not music that starts and stops.

The resultant instrumental album, although about atmosphere and texture, is more filmic and wide-screen than before. [Nov 2014, p.99]

Atomos is, to my ears, a more uneven offering than the debut, lacking the gem-like balance of its predecessor. The upside is that Atomos is perhaps a more challenging listen, featuring a broader sonic palette that contains more distinct highs and lows, both of mood and of merit.
