Oct 13, 2025This doesn't sound much like anything Miller has released in the past, and that only adds to its power; this is a chronicle of a man pondering an uncertain future with both courage and trepidation, and A Lifetime of Riding by Night is the most powerful solo effort he's ever made.

UncutOct 13, 2025A fine record. .... The title track and "Come As You Are" are creations of Jimmy Webb-ish sumptuous lachrymony. [Nov 2025, p.35]

Oct 13, 2025There is a bare-it-all vulnerability that ties all these songs together. With his vocals, a strong, slightly nasally tenor, and acoustic guitar at the forefront of the near dozen songs here (plus a short prologue and interlude), the record is a pivot away from his last solo outing – 2022’s The Misfit.

UncutOct 13, 2025Very much a reflective affair, rendered in warm acoustic folk tones and coloured by Mellotron strings and piano. [Dec 2025, p.33]

Oct 16, 2025It’s a smart, tight album. Fans might not have known Rhett Miller fully, but they’ve known that this record is the sort of work to expect.
