Actually the quality of the songs in this album is quite poor. Imagine if it was not Taylor Swift making this album, who would ever believe these songs can top the chart? Seriously.

What Taylor wants to put out is positive messages but what she did in this album is just spreading hatred, which is quite ironic.

Now people are going to really believe Taylor do write songs, because songwriters probably could not make a living on producing these poor quality songs.

Music industry is hard and unfair, so many great songs are flooded by so called hits - but they clearly are overrated. 1989 is the exact example.

disgusting album. Taylor positioned himself as a country singer but ended up releasing a full pop album. All of her songs about her ex, she's terrible. 0 out of 10

Taylor came up with very advanced developments by boycotting performers above the top with 1989. A refreshment on failure this proves that Taylor will not be common or superior to another artist, thus being 1989 a common album with subject of ex boyfriends in fresh failure

Tayor Swift really did that, this album is so damn good, totally deserved to win Album Of The Year. This is one of the best pop album of all the time. Love You Taylor.

Although not her best work this album was really good and deserved the successful era it had, her switch to pop music wasn't a disappointment and she took the world by storm. Looking forward for what her next album has in store for us.

Infantile, empty and of banal content. It serves to dance cleaning the house and just for that. Any beginner does something like that... Noooooooooooo

.."Stay Hey, all you had to do was stay Had me in the palm of your hand Then, why'd you had to go and lock me out when I let you in Stay, hey, now you say you want it Back now that it's just too late Well could've been easy All you had to do was stay.."

This is just a generic pop album with an OK beat and immature lyrics. It is not an upgrade from her old work as I do not see any difference. The whole record sounds heavily country influenced but does not stand out in either the pop or country genre.

Taylor did it better than the definition of perfection. 1989 goes on selling 10 million albums worldwide, scoring 5 BB #10 hits including 3 #1 hits and wins 3 grammies, including Album of the year. Definitively a masterpiece of the 21st century!

1989 is nothing new or remarkable, it's merely a record full of safe, bland pop music. Taylor lost all of the character and beauty that she poured into Speak Now and Fearless. The production on the album version of "Bad Blood" is horrendous. I'm very pleased that Taylor decided to do a remix with Kendrick Lamar. The remix is a 10/10. the album isn't without its highlights, though. Shake It1989 is nothing new or remarkable, it's merely a record full of safe, bland pop music.

I mean it's good for a pop album, but compared to her other work, it's generic. I expected more and was extremely disappointed. Even the songwriting on this album, was meh. I also don't see the 80's influence at all

1989, though quite catchy at some points, was bland, littered with poor songwriting, and definitely not memorable. Taylor has moved into generic pop, which is a disappointment, since some of her earlier songs were much more meaningful. The vocals were definitely not awful, but they were not anything extraordinary either. Few of her songs on this album conveyed actual emotion.

The lyrics for 'Shake It Off' were repetitive and cringeworthy. Her attempt to rap ruins what little good remained of the song, right with the lyrics "this sick beat" and "hella good hair." The vocals in 'Wildest Dreams' were too breathy and annoying. The lyrics "He's so tall and handsome as hell / He's so bad but he does it so well" does not do anything to improve the song, though the chorus was not bad.
The other songs were either awfully terribly bad or just boring. I enjoyed some of Taylor's older songs, and I am severely disappointed at her attempt at pop. This album was more of a chore to listen to than an enjoyment.

Taylor was inspired by the 80´s music, but she did an album that isn´t good, just an american trash product of 2014, "EMOTION" by Carly Rae Jepsen is what 1989 want to be.

    One word: Overrated
1989 is one of the poorest albums I've ever heard. I save Blank Space from the list, lyrically speaking, but the melody annoys me a lot. Many artists did the major idea of being the center of their songs, but I don't blame her for that, and I don't think is selfish at all, since every artist does some. with her first strictly pop album, i was not disappointed by taylor swift. she had some really strong hooks and catchy instrumentals. her lyrics stayed within the same range she has always had, not exactly shallow but not deep either. she had some really nice songs(wildest dreams) and some stupid ones(shake it off). i get why this made swift the monumental figure she is today

Historically I've never been a fan of Taylor Swift and haven't been remotely interested in what you might call top 20 chart music for the last 20 years or so. "1989" is my guilty pleasure. Then Ryan Adams recorded and actually released a track back track cover of the album. This stoked my interest even further and I decided it had to be checked out. Yes it has sugar coated production dripping from every pore but when you break the songs down into their components, these are top notch as pop music goes. The vocal performance and the production work is of the highest quality and is especially noticeable when played through a good quality sound system rather than tinny earphones. The singles lifted from the album are the highlights and one fault I would pick out of the album is that is could arguably be a leaner beast but I have to say that overall, "1989" is one of my favourite albums of the year. Put your hipster attitude to the side and let yourself have some fun and listen to this. You might just enjoy it. Expand

Musicalmente falando, esse álbum tem faixas que machucam a sonoridade do álbum como "Welcome To New York, All You Had To do Was Stay, How You Get The Girl e Bad Blood".

One of the best albums of pop music. 1989 Taylor Swift's album has too much to say through her lyrics. I love her music because they transmit lived and real sense compering like others lyrics which are completely childish and repetitive.

With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.
