Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher play characters with different lifestyles who hooked up 20 years earlier and remained best friends. He's living the high life as a successful single in NYC, while she's got a more laid-back single-mom LAReese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher play characters with different lifestyles who hooked up 20 years earlier and remained best friends. He's living the high life as a successful single in NYC, while she's got a more laid-back single-mom LA lifestyle. When circumstances arise, they end up switching cities and homes for a week. Before they can proclaim their inevitable love for each other, we go thru pretty much the usual antics, none of which are especially original or funny. Witherspoon is doing her usual quietly quirky character, while Kutcher maintains his smooth, slack style. Tig Nataro is the only cast member who adds much comedy. Otherwise, this is a by-the-numbers delayed rom-com with 2 amiable leads, but not much else to make it stand out.… Expand

On the other hand, Aline Brosh McKenna was the screenwriter of "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Cruella", so what's surprising?… Expand

A rom com where the leads are split for most of the movie is not a completely new idea. Feels like Kutcher really struggles to get through this one, brings a very weird energy.
