This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just like any other kid who grew up watching the X-Men cartoons, I really liked Wolverine. He was like the most badass character to ever exist, probably only next to Cyclops and Toad (yes I liked Toad, but only in the animated series). I didn't know how important Wolverine is supposed to be in the comic series. I just liked him for being a lone wolf who doesn't stay within the norms of X-Men the way the other characters do. So when I heard there's a movie entirely based around him, I was pretty excited. However, my excitement was just as short lived as the intro scenes.

In the beginning we are shown that Logan and his brother ran from their house and later took part in many wars. That scene was so cool! I was expecting the entire movie to be set around those scenes. But literally a few minutes later the movie completely diverts the story to Wolverine and his love interest. Now I was thinking, "Okay fine, maybe this will also be as good as the previous scenes." But then it's just talking, talking and more talking. Finally we are shown why his name is Wolverine: Because she said it! Like, what?

Later on she dies (yay!), and Wolverine wants to revenge her death from his brother. But he isn't strong enough so he gets tricked into having adamantium filled in his body. He runs away, hides in an old couple's house and the couple get killed by the bad guys. Normally people have a problem with the bad CGI claws or the unrealistic physics with which he attacks the helicopter, but I don't have any problems. Rather I enjoyed those scenes. I grew up watching Bollywood movies, so this doesn't make me feel bad.

In the end Wolverine faces his brother and they fight, only to reveal Kayla isn't dead yet (no!). Then something something Wolverine runs and cuts down all the capsules that were holding the mutants. It's a good thing they also showed Cyclops in one scene, how he got his powers. And that, I guarantee you, was a way better way of showing someone get heat vision than what was shown in Man of Steel, and that's saying something because I really like Man of Steel. All the mutants escape and Professor X comes out of nowhere to escort them. He's walking instead of being on a wheelchair, so probably they were planning a story about him which they scrapped and made X-Men: The Last Stand instead.

And finally in the end there's a showdown between Wolverine and Deadpool (now it feels so weird calling that pathetic excuse as Deadpool, now that we have the 2016 movie). Deadpool dies, Kayla cries and Wolverine gets shot in the head and loses his memory. That's all the movie was. Everything else was a filler.

The way this movie was made, I think there were gonna be many more of these "X-Men Origins" spin-off movies. But seeing the terrible reception this one got, they had to scrap the idea. Like I said in the beginning, they could have shown so many things. Wolverine is one of the most iconic superheroes to ever exist, possibly only the 4th most popular superhero after Superman, Batman and Spider-Man. This movie does heavy injustice to him. Although I still like it because of the fact that it's Wolverine and that they actually did something for him. Like I said before, I don't mind the unrealistic physics or the bad CGI. The character development in this movie is actually very good. So I expected this movie to have a couple of sequels as well and it would have fixed the problem of the lack of content. But occasionally it went into certain territories which made me question if we really need a sequel for this movie. So I would say Fox made the right decision by not flogging a dead franchise and choosing to make a couple of good movies to revive it.

Not the worst X men movie, but it is still very bad. I thought what they did with deadpool is absolutely horrible.

The Incredible Hulk isn't very Incredible.
Edward Norton gives a good performance but the concept of Hulk itself just seems tired. There is no new outlook on the hero just simply a repeatedly mediocre take on a very one dimensiona

Decent potential destroyed before the first day of filming. Baffling decisions by the writers

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of the messiest, silliest superhero movies to ever take itself seriously. The result is a superhero film filled with some of the most bizarre moments and unintentional laughs since Batman & Robin or Catwoman.

I was quite wary of this one when I first heard about it after the third X-Men film. Even if it's not amazing, it more than makes up for the heinous sin that is "X-Men 3," so I was really sort of relieved. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Certainly not the best Wolverine film, indeed, among the three it is certainly the worst. A plot that exists and doesn't exist, the presence of that Deadpool there who oh well years later has been disowned by Ryan Reynolds himself. And an origin story that, as much as I love the character of Logan, didn't get me in the least. And here it is forgettable and negligible. Flaws that should never exist in a film, but this is bad and that's okay too. Expand
