Scary as hell and well acted, I love this type of little horror movies. That scene in the tent was scary and very clever, it couldn't be more perfect.

An excellent, near perfect little winner. I wasn't looking forward to Willow Creek, because the day I found about the movie is the same day I watched, also a found footage movie, called SX_Tape, which wasn't fresh.
However, Willow Creek is one of those few movies (Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity 1, VHS series) that prove found footage is in good hands. While Willow Creek succeeds in not dooming the found footage genre, it manages to terrify you, leave you goosey and nauseated. Bravo!

For the first 40 minutes or so, you'll think you're being punk'd.

After that the film lost me because I can't stand watching stupid people who do stupid things that end up getting them into a stupid situation.

I was happy when it ended.

It's Blair Witch but with yetis. It offered nothing new on the whole "found footage" genre. The actors and performances were annoying and there were no surprises.

A good example of bad writing coupled with bad directing. Notwithstanding the fact that the film brings nothing new to the table conceptually speaking, the performances are very average.

There are more than a few moments that can act as an excuse for you to drop it, out of boredom or hatred towards nonsensical film-making. Some images make no sense (especially at the end); the flow of action is completely disconnected from any form of logic - in both fiction and non-fiction.

As a result of all that, I did not buy into it. I wasn't captivated either, and I found that the ending was just silly. Without such a bad ending I'd give the film a weak 6/10.

Again - poor writing and nonsensical directing in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately NOTHING ever happens and this movie goes absolutely nowhere until the very weird and ridiculous end (that really doesn't even give you an ending). It offers some creepy moments and some genuinely chilling scares, but it isn't very exciting and ends on a flat note, and you're not quite sure what just happened, nor do you particularly care. The performances are pretty solid though, and an extended take featuring the two leads in their tent listening to the Blair-Witchian sounds surrounding them is a stand-out moment. Expand

They spend 2 weeks writing the thesis statement and introduction, 2 weeks binge drinking, and write the rest of the paper the night before it's due. Skip this garbage. Expand

Summary: Willow Creek is a little, underrated gem that is directed with precision and realism. 84/100 [B+]

Jim and his girlfriend Kelly are visiting the infamous Willow Creek, the alleged home of the original Bigfoot legend - the tale of huge ape like creatures that roam the forests of North America. It was there that in 1967, the legendary beast was captured on film and has terrified and mystified generations since. Keen to explore more than 50 years of truth, folklore, misidentifications and hoaxes, Kelly goes along for the ride to keep Jim happy, whilst he is determined to prove the story is real by capturing the beast on camera. Deep in the dark and silent woods, isolated and hours from human contact, neither Kelly or Jim are prepared for what is hidden between the trees.

I saw Willow Creek alone, in my room with the lights turned off and it was quite an experience. I didn't know anything about this director until this movie. I read his biography and I noticed that he's an acclaimed director, a very famous one. So I had high expectations for this film and it was awesome, it is the perfect found-footage film, it has lots of atmosphere and creativity. This little flick is the most impressive found-footage film in years. It is dreadful and well acted. The two main leads are pretty likable and you care about them because they look cute together and they have chemistry between each other. Also, the scares in the film came at the right time, they were so precise and atmospheric.

The director Bobcat Goldthwait clearly knows how to make a found-footage film. At times it is very similar to The Blair Witch Project, but that's not a bad thing, Willow Creek has enough originality to stand by its own. The first act is entertaining, we start to feel interested in the characters, their worries and their goals. The movie introduces us to some interesting places based on Bigfoot (such as restaurants, statues and more stuff like that) I found these scenes very refreshing to the found-footage genre. Again, the young couple in the film is so damn likable and charismatic, they kept me entertained all time and I have no problems with the acting at all. The performances were great.

The second act has some weird but quite enjoyable interviews and the found-footage element adds veracity. What I like about this second act is its warm up. It is a slow movie, but it is never dull. Also, the whole scene in the tent is an instant classic! The last 15 minutes are so devastating and dreadful, you feel like everything is wrong and something bad will happen to this couple. The ending is similar to The Last Exorcism's ending, it's confusing but it gives you enough information to elaborate your own conclusions. It's found-footage well done, it looks like a real footage and that's terrifying. Willow Creek is entertaining and short, a scary found-footage flick that looks extremely real. [B+]

A slow burning found-footage film that somehow manages to be more frightening than The Blair Witch Project, assuming you can make it past the first hour.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am only giving it a 5 because I thought the girl was good in this movie. If you are expecting to be scared (being that it is labeled as a horror movie) you will be disappointed. Exactly the first half of the film is nothing but them driving around and interviewing people the entire second half of the film consists of them sitting in a tent listening to sounds in the woods. Nothing scary actually happens until the last minute of the movie and you never actually see Bigfoot. The male actor showed almost no emotion what so ever in the entire length of the film. Honestly i feel this should be rated a 4. Expand
