Childhood redeemed!

I've never thought i see this book in the big screens considering how little content the original had. The author must of had alot of imagination to turn such few words into such a fantasy driven movie.

Spike Jonze Oscar Winner is Brilliant!! Different story and Fresh. While not everything about the story or its execution is entirely satisfying, Jonze deserves a lot of credit for capturing the mood and tone of Sendak's story, and for his realization of the titular creatures. Whether as a playful exploration of a child's imagination or a complex Freudian journey, it is something that remain with you for a very long time. Expand

It was a great discussion starter around how to deal with really big feelings, the messiness of relationships and tapping into feelings in general. 24 hours later, we are both still processing it. It's a quiet movie. Lots of introspection. But it's nice not being told what to think or feel and to just be in the moment. It wasn't what either of us expected - and that's what made it so intriguing. Enjoy this but be prepared to to discuss with children. Expand

But that's what makes Where the Wild Things Are so unique. These things would normally be issues in most other films, but Spike Jonze has these through the lens of a child's mind. Children ARE random and irrational at times, and this film more than most others, knows exactly how to portray these feelings. Expand

Now when I changed and much time has past I think its really great movie to watch. Some people found it boring and depressing and I can agree that it is not a easy thing to watch but sometimes the chars are talking about things that would seem philosophic but it is actually very random. Still if you have some free time and tired of same Disney movies. Watch it and try to make your own opinion. Expand

This movie affected me so deeply and profoundly. I’m not sure why. Maybe it was Max’s crumbling fantasy and him having to face reality. Whatever it was, it made me sob for hours. Amazing.

A haunting and beautiful adaption of Sendak's much loved children's book.
It expands the world of Max's imagination while staying as loyal as possible to the source material (what there is of it) which is a fair achievement in its self.
