The story was well written and the direction was very well executed. The acting was great overall. The actors portraying the 2 main characters were simply superb and both worked together wonderfully. You could really feel their friendship connect and grow stronger throughout the film, not just because of their similar disabilities but more on the level of the pain and suffering both physically and mentally which they both have fallen victims to throughout their lives. "Wheels" certainly played with my emotions. Whether it be from its originally recorded soundtrack which was extremely well executed throughout the film, it had me in a state of indignation, it had me laughing and crying and that overall feeling of anticipation which few films are able to accomplish. Overall I thoroughly recommend checking this film out. Especially considering well written films which have true meaning are few and far between nowadays. Expand

Drake is amazing in the film, expect to cry in this one.I love this movie. It's not overly complicated in plot, but the casting is pitch perfect, and the raw emotions are palpable.

10/10 ! .If you're looking for a great move, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an enjoyable one,you have come to the right place .

I got a flier for the film and looked it up on Facebook. After reading about it and watching clips and stuff, I was sold. Saw it yesterday at The Crest in Westwood. Saw it yesterday at The Crest in Westwood. Honestly, I was expecting a film of questionable production quality. What I saw was the complete opposite. It was very well done and thoroughly entertaining. It was also surprisingly hilarious despite the serious subject matter. I love it when a movie can do that. Good stuff.

Basically: Go see it. It's a great indie flick and deserves the support. Heck, I might go see it again for good measure.

Not living in Westwood, I can't visit the Crest to see if it's indeed (1) packed and (2) showing the best film EVER, according to Metacritic's user rankings. What any non-moron can see is that one person wrote all six reviews, which is actually kind of an insult--both to "Wheels" and to the users who post their (usually) well-considered judgments here. So my zero is for cynically using Metacritic to promote a film. Expand

I like finding small indies to check out so I usually try and hit up the Crest a couple times a month. Going in to it I didn't really know anything about the film so I didn't have any expectations and was pleasantly surprised. WHEELS tells the story of two paraplegic, homeless drug addicts and the craziness they get up to all around LA. It sounds kind of depressing, and don't get me wrong, it's definitely on the deeper/serious side, but there's some dark humor that keeps it funny and the friendship between the two main guys is a really touching aspect of the film. Layers are revealed in flashbacks so you learn how the two got to where they are and there's some pretty crazy shockers. There was a Q & A with the filmmakers after the show and when you hear what these guys went through to get this film made, it's the kind of indie story that I love to hear about. True passion for filmmaking! The movie is shot beautifully, the cinematography is gorgeous and looks really expensive so I was shocked to hear them talk about how they made the movie on a nonexistent budget. Overall, a beautiful, heartfelt story, well-done film, definitely different than anything the major studios pump out. The cast is all unknowns but the acting was quite good. I would highly recommend WHEELS if you like indie films and enjoy watching true storytelling. Expand

I happened across this flick in Westwood the other night. I think it was the Crest Theater, one of those old school movie palaces. This is a beautiful, if twisted, depiction of two paraplegic drug-addled characters trying to understand why there's a reason to keep going. The chemistry was surprisingly good and worked well. Though they were often at odds with each other--and the main character was often fairly passive, save for his suicidal tendencies--they grew to connect with one another, which made their bond all the more touching. Wheels is gritty, raw and and is so well done on so many levels. The score for the film is so fantastic and Mickey's fading memory was captured so very well. DO NOT MISS THIS FILM! This movie hooks you with great underwater darkness and by the time it's over, you feel like you have been hit over the head with reality. There's a true essence of pain that prevails through the end of the film and when it's all said and done, you walk out feeling the pain of a man who has been through hell to find himself on the other side.
