Aesthetically compelling and refreshing from start to finish, Hamaguchi is the real deal.

There is little action or movement, and most of the time is spent on the conversations that take place on the spot.
There are some surprising twists and turns, which not only keep us interested but also keep us immersed.
Director Ryusuke Hamaguchi's aesthetic sense and ability to observe people are outstanding.

The first had some good moments and great dialogue, but I didn't really like the characters. The second was all great and I really didn't expect the direction that was taken between the professor and the student. The third was also all great and probably the one that most resonated with me, there is a catharsis in being able to just say anything to a stranger knowing you will likely never meet again. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
