Mixed feelings about this one. On one hand it was hilariously funny, on the other the chemistry between Radcliffe (my baby brother) and Kazan (a personal favourite) was pretty weak. Still, a nice night in.

Michael Dowse's film uses the romance formula pretty well, the script by Elan Mastai (Alone In The Dark) isn't formulaic but it's very painfully predictable and eye-rolling but the script does do is make this a funny sweet rom-com with normalMichael Dowse's film uses the romance formula pretty well, the script by Elan Mastai (Alone In The Dark) isn't formulaic but it's very painfully predictable and eye-rolling but the script does do is make this a funny sweet rom-com with normal human behavior, it's real stars are Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan who have charming and witty chemistry and save this rom-com from being a horribly made one. Daniel Radcliffe plays Wallace who dropped out of med school and isn't good with relationships, til he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan), at a party where she sees him playing with magnets on a refrigerator. So after walking with Chantry at her adobe, she lets Wallace know that she has a boyfriend (Rafe Spall) why don't be friends? Wallace doesn't like the idea. Then Chantry convinces him to be friends with her, and then he signs on for the friendship thing it's an assuming tale of 'When Harry Met Sally'. Maybe an average rom-com is OK (if it's made well) and "What If" is made well smart film, the two stars have a sparkling chemistry with one and another. 4.00 out of 5 stars Expand

What If (or The F Word in some countries) is the first movie that I have seen from Daniel Radcliffe post-Harry Potter. I never really got the time to see his other movie The Woman in Black and now I have no interest thanks to procrastination.

Anyway, I like how quirky this movie is. The setting is perfect for this kind of movie and I am surprised that this movie is actually shot and set in Toronto. I have always wanted to go to Canada but this movie makes me want to go there more sometime.

What makes What If a bit disappointing for me is that there is nothing special about this movie. It feels like I have seen other movies that deals with the topics that this movie is trying to explore. And also, I don’t like how some of the dialogue in this movie felt cringy and unrealistic, like what kind of boyfriend would ask the male friend of his girlfriend if he is going to have sex with her? That is very rude and also unrealistic.

What made this movie however an average watchable escapism are the performances and the chemistry between the leads of Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan. They made this movie to watch for me and they gave life to their characters. I will not exclude Adam Driver because he did a great job in this movie as well and even though his character is pretty much an **** he is the character I feel like is real and genuine and Adam Driver played the role very well.

What If is not something I would watch again. However, I would recommend this movie to my friends who love romantic comedies. After all, this movie is better than some of the chick flick crap.
