Wonderfully directed and anchored by a pretty brilliant performance from Carla Juri, WETLANDS becomes the bourgeois reactionary film it so desperately doesn't want to be. The first 45 minutes is truly contemporary and almost mind blowing with its depiction of a young woman bent on celebrating her bodily functions. But then a whole mama/papa back story sets in complete with divorce and attempted suicide. The film suddenly declares, "that's why she is that way!" And they even give her a pretty boy love interest. For shame. Man up and have some guts folks. Expand

I liked it and found the main character intriguing. I guess I feel the need of this point of view in films are more worthy of praise than anything that actually happens in it though. A strong 2 out of 5 with bonus kudos for originality ofI liked it and found the main character intriguing. Striking and well done, a simple theme but not open to any public, it is very clear that this is a European film, a huge point in its favor is that it is not puritan and does not get entangled, together with that also gets more attention byStriking and well done, a simple theme but not open to any public, it is very clear that this is a European film, a huge point in its favor is that it is not puritan and does not get entangled, together with that also gets more attention by the great work of its protagonist.
Wetlands is a film with an unusual theme, but it should not be rejected.
