This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a garbage film. They had some really good content till the end. Where yeah apparently there are zombies or monsters or whatever....and they literally show NOTHING. ONE shot of "what's outside" would have moved this from a two to a six. Derp Expand

And the last act is just bonkers; the director tries to channel 'Suspiria,' but it feels very cheap. There's also a supernatural element that will make your eyes roll. Wished the plot could've followed what was laid out at the beginning. Expand

Now from IFC Films, another long and uninspired film that could easily have been a short one.

The whole concept is based on suggestion, and how much you're willing to accept how the story works. Which becomes quite complicated after about 25 minutes, for two simple reasons.

The first one is that almost the entire film takes place in the same location, and from the beginning it's made very clear that the people there have problems, so the confinement will deteriorate the situation. That's immediately inferred.

Second, something evil seems to be looming over them, from the inside and from the outside, and one of the characters is to blame for it.
As events unfold around that resource, there's only one possible outcome in a horror film: Annihilation.

An explanation is given with flashbacks of why those things are happening, but the truth is that it's just very frivolous, and nothing that this film does justifies the whole mess.
And the ending is just a **** joke.

A total wasted effort.

Characters are based on tired dysfunctional family & social tropes and possess the interpersonal depth of a sheet of paper. 1/4 of the way through it cuts to a flashback concerning the teen girls self harm “boohoo woe is me” wiccan-lesbian relationship; get ready because it‘s a recurring theme playing into the situation the family is *presently* in. Does Sierra McCormick only play damaged girls with an alternative lifestyle? Seems like a decent actor who’s just shoehorned into this character over and over again. You’re really not missing anything if you skip this one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Had something brilliant set up but fell flat on its face with its execution, the characters don't even try to do anything the except for 2 examples where one was Robert being stupid and the other was Robert being abusive, also the monster outside is only brought up 3 times in the whole movie making id's addition seem meaningless. Another thing is that it was hard to keep the fear and tension throughout because in every stressful scene jt cut to the very stupid, very confusing plot with s the girl and her girlfriend Expand
