I liked the world and the atmosphere of the movie but everything else for me was just boring. Maybe I’m just not smart enough but I just didn’t really like it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A boring weird one
This was sadly a really boring SF movie who tried but failed over and over again to make you watch to the end. I waited for a logical explanation in the movie about the bizarre book reading scene but there was none. The journey of following this teenage girl trying to survive in a devastated world destroyed by genetic engineering of crops for profit is magnetic. More like a moral fable with a clear delineation between good and bad, it leaves a lot unsaid and this lack of exposition allows room for imagination. It's also like a fairy tale, being grim as well as magical. Not for those whose idea of fantasy is the inflated babble dialogue of Tolkien or the frenetic CGI and editing of superhero films. Produced by the people from yawnvile and sleepland. If you cant sleep at night, then just watch this boring movie. Sleep tight people. A Strange film, I personally couldn't understand what it was all about. This movie is good if you cant sleep..it will put you in slumberland for sure :) It was so boring and the dialogs where so drowsing. Zzzzzz sleep tight.

Fear porn for the eco-paranoids that glue themselves to high culture. If you’ve seen any of the ecological cataclysm or post apocalyptic centered films in the last twenty years then you’ve seen this.

Whoever makes this garbage should stop and focus on something else. Wedding videos maybe? Or possibly just a new career in general because this is fraud.
This film is bad.
Bad directing. Bad cinematography. Really bad acting. Boring plot with excessive dialog. That about sums it up.

2 Hours I Won't Get Back
There's two hours of my life I won't get back. I was watching and waiting for the film to get going and start making sense. The plot eluded me. It seems to be "woke" garbage about a gender ambiguous person nurturing the environment and rewarded by plants that maim / poison / kill. Really, what is the point? Why did anyone think that is a good idea for a film? It is extraordinarily dull and booooooorrrrriiiing.. my wife fell asleep! I would recommend watching paint dry instead of subjecting yourself to this utter drivel. I don't normally write reviews but feel duty bound to warn others not to waste their time watching this nonsense.

Dystopian Despair...
Imagine what you'd do, living in a world you should eschew, where the flora has an aura and an appetite for you, where the animals have vanished, where you're living as if banished, with a father who's immobile, and you're permanently famished.
You'll struggle to find a more dystopian and depressing presentation on a potential future of this planet than the one identified here, as Vesper roams the barren wastelands in search of food (if you could call it that) while locking horns with her uncle before discovering Camellia who changes here direction of travel.
It's not the most exciting piece of Science Fiction you'll come across and I'm not sure it will add too much value to any musing you might have on the future direction of this planet, other than to hope it's not as bad as this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Boring. Soooooo boring
Why do they make kids main protagonist ? Would be hundred times better if she was around 25 years old. I would have to say its a dud. Boring, and too much crying miss you drama. Don't waste your money renting or buying. The plot could have been better. The second half was not as strong as the first half of the movie especially because it relies on a "Eureka!" moment that felt a bit too convenient for my taste. This movie was one of the strangest movies I've seen and it was hard for me to understand and the end was not what I thought. Absolute borefest. Also, the slimy details are only good for a while before it got redundant & silly just like too much salt makes your food disgusting -Unless u have bad taste! This movie is hot trash a total flop and waste of celluloid.

Screenplay a bit flat
Let's start with what was good: the cinematography is gorgeous. Yes it is dark everywhere, just like in every dystopia, but every bit of nature is colourful; flowers are amazingly beautiful, seeds colourful... Now with what I didn't like: sooooo many cringe moments, from implying rape, to animal noises done by humans for waaay too long, passing by conversations that make you very uneasy. On top of that the story is something that was already done in SF, multiple times, but falls flat, which makes the film way too long. To be honest the trailer showed it, I still thought it could have been a good surprise.

An original, visually striking movie that I have to say I didn't enjoy watching. Vesper's world is bleak, depressing and repellent and not one I wanted to spend any more time in.

Unfortunately for all the work that went in to this movie, like good costumes and sets, decent music, decent shots, decent acting, it's not hitting any of the right notes, and drags on terribly. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Vesper is a tortuously slow paced dystopian future science fiction story (teen girl tries to save the world) that is generally liked by movie critics but will be hated by the general movie audiences. There are tense moments sprinkled throughout the story but not enough to raise it to the level of good adventure. The main villain is a very cruel but small old man that uses CHILDREN as enforcers so lacked credibility with me (why doesn't someone simply kill him?). Apparently, to qualify as high art, a lot of stuff have to go unexplained so that the general audiences will be scratching their heads until they are bald. Spoiler Alert: The ending is mysterious and beautifully symbolic I suppose, but logically questionable (stupid?). The heroine climbs a mysterious tower and releases her last FEW "super" seeds to the winds, which will spread and rejuvenate the world, I suppose. BUT, I'm thinking, what if those few seeds DO NOT survive in the wild? Granted, some seeds do spread by wind and birds, etc. It would have been smarter to grow much more seeds deliberately by hand and then spread some by wind. On the other hand, another interpretation could be that the heroine half gave up and simply left the fate of the world to nature/God on whether the seeds would save the world or not. Expand

Super boring. Unfortunate, because the world and the costumes look great. What a shame, because the story is boring, the pace is slow and the acting is monotonous.

It says that the viruses sent out by humansTbh, this film is quite boring. I do not understand all the great reviews. A lot of time, nothing really makes any sense and while the message at the start tells us a bit, it's very misleading. It says that the viruses sent out by humans destroyed most of the plant life, however, the majority of the film takes place around a lot of mutated greenery. So it's a bit contradictory. Also, it never says anything about plant mutations in the opening message. It also says nothing about human mutations and yet, we see one close to the start of the movie. For what this film is though, it's okay. Not awful, but not particularly great either. The acting is fine and the story does paint the post apocalyptic future it aims for. I heard about this film yesterday when it popped up on my news feed and I read an article on it which made the film out to be great, however it turned out to be a disappointment. There's a lot of long scenes were it's just two characters sitting around and talking and very little of anything else that could make the film more entertaining. The ending was also really anti- climatic and again, didn't really make any sense. It reminds me a bit of the film annihilation. They share the same "what is going on" kind of feeling and they both do not make much sense. I'd give it a 5.5 out of 10. I do appreciate the creativity as well. I just don't like how it lies to us at the start. Expand
